ASSIGNMENT

The Communication Officer works under the direct supervision of Amel Association’s President, and in coordination with the Projects Coordinators in the Headquarters, in addition to the Head of Amel’ Centers. He/she is based in the HQ, and will work to promote will work to promote Amel Association activities in all its centers and Amel Association’s President Correspondence, both internally and externally. In addition to the working agreement, the Communication Officer is expected to work unconventional hours whenever there is a major activity (like a trip, celebration, etc.)

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES Responsibility #1: Develop and Implement Amel’s Communication Strategy

• Conduct communications needs assessments;
• Lead the development of Amel’s communication strategy
• Analyze requirements and help integrate advocacy and communication; strategies into Amel program interventions;
• Prepare speeches and press releases in the assistance of;
• Identify storylines for publication and draft articles

Responsibility #2: Social Media

• Maintain content for the website to ensure consistency of the materials;
• Regularly update the website with updates around events, activities and campaigns.
• Animating and developing social media
• Editing the newsletter
• Managing the website
• Producing visual materials (leaflets, posters, etc.)
• Field visits (covering events organized in centers, accompanying partners and journalists, collecting testimonies, etc.) according to the needs
• Write meeting and field minutes

Responsibility #3: Other Duties
• Participate to NGOs fairs organized by universities and animate Amel’s stand.
• Enhance Amel’s written communication about its activities:
• Take care of the President’s correspondence
• Write speeches for the President when necessary
• Update the mailing list
• Be responsible of the mail box [email protected]
• Other tasks upon request and according to needs

 

Skills, Competencies and Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in graphic design, branding, art direction, journalism, advertising, or communication.

• At least 2 to 3 years relevant work experiences.

• Very strong written and oral communication skills in both English and Arabic, including drafting press releases, success stories, social media posts, creating infographics, etc.

• Good knowledge in creating content and managing social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube).

• Responsible, respectful attitude, and collaborative approach to problem solving and while working in the community and within a team.

• Ability to work independently with limited supervision, as well as part of a team;

• Detailed oriented; with the ability to follow up on procedures to meet deadlines.

• Good knowledge of the humanitarian sector

• Strength in interpersonal, communication and presentation skills

• Strong documentation, research and report writing skill

• Excellent computer skills.
