Terms of Reference – Capacity-Building Trainer

All applicants must meet the minimum requirements described above, and those unable to meet these requirements will not be considered.
Each application package should include the following:
- Letter of intent (no longer than one page) detailing the consultant’s previous experience and interest for the consultancy;
- Financial proposal; and
- Updated CV including relevant work experience and qualifications.
The work should be delivered as follows:
- 5 sessions (each for 1 day)
- The total sessions target 10 duty-bearers.
- Developing and contextualizing training material as well as reporting will be allocated a total of 5 days.
- Total number of days: 10 days
- Training sessions (1 day per session): 5
- Preparation days: 2.5
- Reporting days: 2.5
Scope of Work
The consultant will be responsible for the following:
- Revising ALEF’s existing training modules on engagement with UN treaty bodies, rights of children in conflict with the law, torture prevention, and fair trial and add new material in order prepare a module that fits the context of the project, with special considerations for the duty-bearers involved.
- Delivering 5 capacity-building sessions addressed to relevant duty-bearers on the following topics:
- Rights of children in conflict with the law.
- Fair trial
- Torture prevention
- Engagement with UN treaty bodies and the importance of reporting on time
- Reporting to ALEF on the capacity-building sessions, their evaluation, and their impact.
Deliverables
- Training material for 5 1-day sessions on engagement with UN treaty bodies, rights of children in conflict with the law, torture prevention, and fair trial
- 5 capacity-building sessions
- 5 training reports (a report on every training session)
Qualifications:
- Advanced university degree in Human Rights or, Political Science, International Relations, Law, and/or related field experience;
- Minimum of five years’ experience in non-government organizations, public policy, government institutions, or organisations that focus on human rights;
- Experience in engagement with UN treaty bodies, rights of children in conflict with the law, torture prevention, and fair trial;
- Proven ability to communicate orally in a clear and concise manner;
- Strong training skills;
- Strong analysis and writing skills;
- Strong knowledge of the local context in Lebanon; and
- Fluency in English and Arabic.
