Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA) and Gender Integration Coaching

About ABAAD:

ABAAD is a non-profit, non-politically affiliated, non-religious civil association that aims to achieve gender equality as an essential condition to sustainable social and economic development in the MENA region. ABAAD seeks to promote women’s equality and participation through policy development, legal reform, gender mainstreaming, engaging men, eliminating discrimination, and advancing and empowering women to participate effectively and fully in their communities. ABAAD also seeks to support and collaborate with civil society organizations that are involved in gender equality programs and advocacy campaigns.

About the Project:

Generation Gender is a five-year program that aims at positively influencing public opinion, laws and policies towards gender justice, as well as strengthening civil society to advocate for gender justice all the while combatting GBV and inequality. More specifically, the program at hand relies on an innovative and inclusive gender-transformative strategy that equips youth leaders and civil society organizations (CSOs) to address the root causes of gender inequality and foster sustainable change. Its goal is to raise public support, advocate for improved policies and laws, and strengthen civil society.

Description

ABAAD is offering an extensive coaching process to support grassroots civil society organizations in building their capacities in protection from sexual exploitation and abuse (PSEA) and accountability, as well as gender integration under the Generation Gender program. The aim of this intervention is to examine the intersectionality of gender with other   field (e.g. education, WASH and shelter, food security), optimize best practices, and encourage innovation in engaging with target populations.

  • On PSEA

The primary objective of the Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA) coaching and mentoring exercise is to provide one-on-one technical guidance tailored to respond to organizations’ needs. This is achieved by examining the context in which organizations are operating and accordingly developing and integrating preventive and protection mechanisms on SEA or reviewing and optimizing them.

  • On gender integration

Additionally, participants will have the opportunity to learn about foundational concepts of gender and the principles of gender integration while building their skills and knowledge on how socially constructed gender norms affect the lives of women, men, and people of diverse gender identities. The program will also create space for participants to analyze how these gender norms impact their own programs and the contexts where they work.

The coaching and mentoring sessions will provide participants with tools to integrate a gender perspective into their activities irrespective of their mandates.

After the selection process, CSOs will undergo a needs assessment that will contribute to designing a tailored-fitted coaching process and action plan for each organization.
