In addition to other interventions in the area, AND is currently working on child protection, especially in the most deprived areas of Akkar, by providing education support, extra-curricular activities, and psychosocial interventions.

General objective of the job

The Community Facilitation Officer is part of the field team responsible for collaborating with and supporting the community ensuring that children, youth, parents, and other caregivers are active participants in all aspects of projects. They are in charge of providing adequate psycho-social support to the community. The Community Facilitation Officer is required to provide such support to the caregivers of vulnerable children.  This includes establishing and maintaining effective relationships with all involved stakeholders plus support in monitoring and contributing to successful activities’ implementation.

Job Responsibilities

  • Be aware of Minimum Standards for Child Protection in Humanitarian Action, gender- and conflict-sensitive.
  • Develops and maintains good relationships with the community;
  • Participate in skills building training, and/or refresher trainings in preparation of curriculum delivery
  • Create the space for an inclusive participation of all caregivers; encouraging participants to be actively involved
  • Participate in sessions and activities’ design and adaptation of the curricula to the context, under the guidance of the CP officer.
  • Ensures the correct implementation of the required curricula (as directed by the project team and partners) to the selected groups of caregivers; minimum one session per week per group; with a clear explanation of the selected curriculum and its objectives.
  • Provide awareness sessions for the caregivers.
  • Ensure that the activities are done in a safe, clean, hazard free environment.
  • Ensures, promotes and facilitates that the principles of inclusion, PSEA, child protection and child participation are integrated within all interventions;
  • Ensure that caregivers are aware of any accountability/ complaint mechanisms
  • Meets frequently with the other facilitators, outreaches and CP officer to ensure good understanding of the sequence of activities and their timely implementation, along with complying with proper referral mechanisms.
  • Support in data collection for monitoring the implementation of activities.
  • Register and fill all monitoring tools (Attendance, pre-test, post-test..).
  • Provide needed input for the weekly/ monthly reports as required by the CP officer.
  • Be responsible for the proper use and basic maintenance of the PSS material and the facility.
  • Support in AND’s activities when needed;

Position Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Degree in social sciences or related field
  • At least 5 year of relevant experience
  • Preferably previous experience working with children/refugees/vulnerable populations using a community-based approach

The Community Facilitation Officer shall report to the CP officer.
