Description:

LPDC is recruiting a research intern to assist in developing and writing research papers and project proposals and conducting fieldwork to inform Lebanese Government policy to support Palestinian refugees in Lebanon.

The Lebanese Palestinian Dialogue Committee (LPDC) deals with the Palestinian refugees' affairs in Lebanon. The Committee serves as a focal point between the Palestinian refugees and local and international stakeholders, and provides policy recommendations to the Government of Lebanon, based on the national interests of the Lebanese people and the rights of Palestinian refugees to live in dignity and respect, until their right of return is realized.

LPDC is looking for a full-time intern to assist with writing documents to be submitted to partners in the United Nations, research institutions, and non-governmental organizations across the sphere of Palestinian refugee issues. The intern will work with the research unit of LPDC to conduct research on topics related to ongoing and future projects to guide program development and strategic implementation.

The intern is expected to gain knowledge on issues related to Palestinian refugees in Lebanon, the international system that governs them, the workings of the Government of Lebanon, and its engagement with the governmental and non-governmental sectors. They will strengthen their drafting skills related to the theoretical and practical aspects of policy-making, and will be exposed to and engage with high-level diplomats at official functions.

Requirements:
· Must be a Master’s student or recent Master’s graduate in Politics, International Relations, Middle Eastern Studies, or a related field.
· Must have excellent English writing skills, with good speaking and writing skills in Arabic preferred.
· Must have the ability to conduct policy research, good time management skills, critical thinking skills, and strong motivation.

The internship will be in-person at the Grand Serail (Government Palace) in Beirut, Lebanon for the months of June through August, 2024.

To apply, send a CV, cover letter, and English writing sample to [email protected] by Monday, May 21st. Selected candidates will be interviewed shortly thereafter.
