This position will lead on livelihood activities for vulnerable families in a defined geographic area of Akkar. This position main role is to lead and follow up with the team to provide livelihood counselling, provide individual needs-based coaching, share relevant information and assist people to reflect on their aspirations, interests, and competencies for income generating opportunities.

Responsibilities:

Project Management

  • Ensure multi-project management and good time allocation for each project in order to ensure proper implementation, Projects are rather small and have limited recourses the project coordinator should be able to manage his time across the available projects assigned for him with the ability to manage and delegate tasks to staff
  • Conduct regular monitoring of program activities and program impact, per Akkarouna Monitoring, Evaluation Policy and in accordance with existing related guidelines and donor regulations;
  • Overview project budget and complete financial planning to inform programming including monthly projections and budget reviews;
  • Write regular donor and organizational reports to highlight program successes and challenges.
  • Ensure coordination with other Akkarouna programs, and assist other programs to mainstream protection into their activities as appropriate
  • Ensure the project has appropriate visibility for the donor and for Akkarouna and contribute to the development of communications materials that highlight Akkarouna’ programming.
  • Ensure the program follows Project Management Minimum Standards, and has appropriate documentation of activities

 

Team Management and Capacity Building

  • Supervise FSL and Counselor teams to develop work plans focused on key outputs and outcomes;
  • Ensure team to complete tasks as assigned in a timely, professional way;
  • Foster a strong team spirit and ensure effective communications both between team members and with partners
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive staff training plan to build team capacity
  • Ensure staff receive appropriate capacity building to enable them to complete their tasks effectively

 

Management and Capacity Building

  • Develop and follow capacity building plans, based on the needs
  • Ensure support is provided to improve the organizational and technical capacity of team

 

Thought Leadership

  • Lead and contribute to related program design, including concept note and proposal writing to secure future funding, in coordination with senior management
  • Contribute to organization’s understanding of best practices in livelihoods programming, and as appropriate, develop research and evaluations to increase our understanding of successful implementation strategies

 

Coordination and Representation

  • Represent Akkarouna at relevant coordination meetings in different locations to foster greater coordination and information sharing;
  • Serve as primary contact for the project with national and municipal-level officials to explain the objectives and parameters of the programs, as well as local NGOs and program partners, local religious leaders and other community members to ensure support for and acceptance of Akkarouna;
  • Develop and maintain working relationships and coordinate with relevant international and local agencies active emergency response and community development, including donors, other humanitarian organizations, local authorities and local partners;

 

Other

  • Commitment to implementation of Akkarouna Program Management Minimum Standards (PMMC) to ensure all project planning and documentation is completed in timely manner;
  • Ensure interventions adhere to Akkarouna Gender Equity Policy, PSEA and Do No Harm strategies
  • Conduct himself/herself both professionally and personally in such a manner as to bring credit to Akkarouna and not jeopardize its humanitarian mission;
  • Participate in internal office coordination and planning meetings and workshops;
  • Other assigned tasks, as necessary.
  • Ensure the projects evidence of activities and outputs are well documented,
  • Perform other duties as required by Akkarouna
  • Support Akkarouna colleagues with related tasks working as Akkarouna team
  • Internal capacity building is needed to be given within the teams if needed.

 

Experience and technical competencies required: (include years of experience)

  • At least 3 years of experience in organizations and humanitarian settings, specifically in Livelihood sectors
  • Experience managing teams
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, respect, non-discrimination and safety of client at all times;
  • Ability to provide technical support, trainings and supervision of FSL and counselors
  • Experience providing on the job coaching and mentoring and building capacity of staff
  • Excellent knowledge of child and adult development and learning
  • Excellent knowledge of basic facilitation skills
  • Computer Literacy (Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint)
  • Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills, creativity and flexibility
  • Comfortable in a multicultural environment, flexible and able to handle pressure well
  • Strong ability to organize work, meet deadlines, maintain composure, prioritize work under pressure, coordinate multiple tasks and maintain attention to detail

 

Education:

Bachelor’s in social work, teaching, child development or other related field
