JOB TITLE: Psychologist\Psychotherapist

JOB PURPOSE

The psychologist will provide mental health and counselling services for individuals in ABAAD Safe spaces.

REPORTS TO: Mental Health Advisor  

 

REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Work within a multidisciplinary team in the designated safe centers according to  
  • Conduct screening and assessment of beneficiaries and develop individualized psychotherapy sessions or/and rehabilitation plans according to their needs;
  • Provide psychosocial support to beneficiaries and their families;
  • Provide psychological support and counseling services to beneficiaries and their families;
  • Provide support to the beneficiary family when needed;
  • Facilitate group therapy and support group sessions in coordination with the multidisciplinary team;
  • Organize community, rehabilitation and awareness activities for beneficiaries and their families in coordination with the multidisciplinary team;
  • Attend and contribute to the case conference and supervision meetings;
  • Attend trainings
  • Contribute to Abaad research and publications (articles, booklets…) if needed
  • Meet and coordinate effectively with the Case Worker and/or any other team member in order to provide the best services through relevant case management
  • Ensure the complete and updated filing of beneficiary information, including follow up sessions and referrals.
  • Provide support to the team in the implementation of activities under their work plan
  • Assist in performing other tasks as requested by line manager
  • Guarantee that all relevant forms and formats are updated and that confidential information is secured
  • Plan all the daily, weekly and monthly interventions relevant to the ongoing cases and keep clear tracks of the steps followed and the content of the sessions

 

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

  • Bachelor or Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology and registration in the Order of Psychologists
  • A minimum of five years of relevant experience
  • Good knowledge of CP and GBV National SOP’s
  • Good knowledge of CP and GBV Minimum Standards
  • Excellent skills in time management and stress management
  • Good organizational and prioritization skills and ability to meet deadlines under pressure;
  • Leadership, problem solving, and negotiation skills;
  • Strong inter-personal and team working skills including the ability to manage, liaise and communicate with team members;
  • Demonstrated capacity to take initiative and pay attention to details;
  • Flexible, dynamic, taking initiative;
  • Ability to react to emergency situations and troubleshoot crisis situations as needed;
  • Ability to plan workloads and demonstrate accountability for outputs;
  • Fluent written and spoken Arabic and English are essential- French is a plus;
  • Fully comply with ABAAD Code of Conduct and its PSEA Policy
