Examines, treats and follows-up on patients with eye disease problems referred to him/her by health centre medical officers;
Provides feedback information to health centre medical officers on the condition of patients referred to the ophthalmic clinic(s) and on the recommended management;
Maintains records of all patients treated at the ophthalmic clinics (s) and provides statistical data and relevant information on such patients to the Field Office;
Plans and directs the in-service training of medical officers on early detection and prevention of ophthalmic complications among patients suffering from chronic and degeneratic disease such as diabetes mellitus and hypertension, as well as on the appropriate management of eye diseases not requiring specialist opinion;
Follows-up to ensure that equipment, supplies and techniques are maintained/performed in accordance with standard Agency procedures;
Maintains an effective system of referral to and feedback from contracted and government hospital treating refugee patients;
Performs other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor(s).
