Assignment Context:
The audio-visual technician is a client-facing individual who provides audio-visual technical support in ESCWA conference rooms. This role also supports different virtual meeting platforms and performs level 1 troubleshooting of audio-visual systems. The technician will work as part of a team or individually on given assignments without supervision.

Task description
Under the supervisor of the Telecommunications Technician, the UN Volunteer is responsible to perform the below functions:

1. Scheduling and Administering Virtual Meetings: This involves setting up virtual meetings and events on various online meeting platforms, such as Zoom, Microsoft Teams, or WebEx. Managing the meeting settings, sending invitations to meeting organizers, and ensuring everything runs smoothly during the virtual event.
2. Preparing Meeting Rooms: For both in-person and virtual meetings, setting up the meeting room and ensuring it is equipped with the necessary audio-visual equipment. This may include arranging chairs, tables, screens, projectors, microphones, and other relevant equipment.
3. Testing Conference Equipment: Before each meeting, the technician will need to thoroughly test and verify the functionality of all audio-visual equipment required for the event. This includes audio systems, video projectors, cameras, microphones, and any other specialized hardware.
4. Technical Support: Providing technical support to conference attendees and meeting organizers is crucial. The technician will be available to assist with any technical issues before, during, and after the event, such as troubleshooting audio or video problems, ensuring internet connectivity, etc.
5. Operating Room Equipment: During conferences, the technician will be responsible for operating the audio-visual equipment in the meeting room. This involves managing audio levels, controlling video displays, switching between different input sources, and handling any technical challenges that arise.
6. Installation and Configuration of AV Hardware/Software: The technician may be involved in setting up and configuring audio and video conference hardware and software. This can include codecs, audio mixers, microphones, simultaneous interpretation systems, audio/video recording devices, live streaming encoders, conference monitors, and computers.
7. Maintaining AV Equipment: The technician will likely be in charge of maintaining the audio-visual equipment, ensuring that it is in good working condition and promptly addressing any malfunctions or issues.
8. Collaboration with Other Teams: As an AV technician, you may need to work closely with event planners, IT teams, or other relevant departments to ensure seamless execution of meetings and events.
9. Documentation: Keeping detailed records of equipment maintenance, technical setups, and troubleshooting procedures is essential for future reference and improvement.
10. Other Duties: You may be required to perform additional tasks related to audio-visual technology as necessary, depending on the specific needs of your organization or event.
