Role Summary

The Academic Assessment & Evaluation Officer assesses, evaluates scholars’ academic performance, as well as coordinates, and oversees all academic matters in compliance with LAU & USAID Grant policies and procedures, and possibly on other similarly funded awards, with similar job requirements.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

  • Explains to students LAU & HES II academic rules and regulations, as well as the special features of the scholarship
  • Submits and tracks requests on Partner Vetting System (PVS)
  • Collects, tracks and assesses academic data on a regular basis
  • Meets with students throughout the semester, establishes action plans, and advises on the proper course registration according to their academic graduation plan
  • Ensures appropriate and timely follow-ups with students
  • Analyzes students’ academic performance and takes appropriate actions if needed
  • Identifies students with emotional, medical and career-oriented issues
  • Creates files of newly admitted students
  • Facilitates and oversees scholars’ registration process
  • Serves as an interviewer for new cohorts
  • Documents all meeting with students
  • Supports HES management team with other functions and requirements of the grant in ensuring that all students meet all their obligations towards graduation
  • Monitors academic performance of students and tracks relevant data throughout program duration, to ensure compliance with the rules of the grant
  • Communicates with Faculty on the progress of the scholars
  • Provides solutions and guidance when needed
  • Maintains data and files on all scholars
  • Assigns and supervises LAU student Mentors
  • Performs other duties pertinent to this job as assigned

Minimum Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree
  • Minimum 2 years of work experience in a higher educational institution or in a grant-related field
  • Excellent verbal and written skills in English and Arabic
  • Knowledge of the American system of education
  • Knowledge of Banner is a plus
  • Experience in grant management is a plus
  • Must be a team player, takes initiative and is proactive
  • Advanced computer skills especially in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Desktop Publishing
  • Accuracy in researching, collecting, analyzing and presenting data
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
