The Knowledge Workshop, a feminist organization in Beirut, is working on strengthening its organizational capacities. KW is hiring an HR consultant who will support KW to review and to develop its policies from a feminist perspective that centers inclusivity, equity, care, accountability and growth.
Established in 2015, the Knowledge Workshop (KW) focuses on storytelling and oral history, documenting women’s stories and histories, as well as developing and making accessible more feminist publications and resources. KW is committed to inclusivity, to building intergenerational connections, as well as on bridging across the diverse communities and movements in Lebanon.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Reviewing existing policies and developing a detailed plan of the consultancy
- Developing KW’s Employee Handbook to reflect KW’s feminist values and work, as well as ensuring it abides by Lebanese laws and regulations.
- Revisit KW’s policy papers and forms and advice on their function
- Developing the code of conduct
- Developing recommendations for conflict resolution and accountability mechanisms
- Providing strategic recommendations for the implementation of the handbook
- Reviewing the salary scales, performance evaluation processes, and recruitment systems, and where applicable providing recommendations for updating
- Facilitating discussions with KW management and staff around HR issues, as related to the employee handbook or as they may come up during the consultancy
- Could be asked to present recommendations for improving work culture at KW
- Could be asked to give recommendations for developing MEAL system at KW
- Final presentation of the agreed upon outputs

Presenting first draft of employee handbook and forms agreed upon as a priority

Qualifications:
- Degree in Human Resource Management or a related field (Advanced degree is preferable)
- Knowledge of feminist approaches to HR and management, and familiarity with different application of feminist values in workplaces
- At least seven years of demonstrated experience in performance management, HR management, and/or learning and development within CSO sectors
- Ability to communicate, explain, and discuss HR issues, especially from a feminist perspective
- Excellent organizational and facilitation skills
- Knowledge of Lebanese laws and regulations, especially as it connects to labor, taxes etc.
- Pro-activeness and ability to work independently with limited supervision
- Ability to use flexible and participatory approaches to working with a team
- Abiding by deadlines
- Integrity, professionalism and confidentiality
- Proficiency in Arabic and English
