Project Description:

The role of the Country Office Communications Unit is to adopt UNDP’s global communication strategy to a local context and the Country Office development priorities. Through the production of high-quality communication materials and innovative use of relevantly targeted communication channels (internal and external), the communications team works collaboratively to position UNDP as a leader in the development arena, promote visibility of UNDP program outcomes/development results, mobilize support for Sustainable Development Goals in the country, and practice delivery as one UN.

The UNDP Country Office in Lebanon frequently produces publications pertaining to its different projects for local and international audiences, to raise awareness on its activities as well as a part of its capacity building process. The UNDP is seeking to hire a Digital Content Associate to manage the publication and maintenance of UNDP Lebanon’s online presences.

The Digital Content Associate works in close collaboration with Senior Management, the Country Office Performance, Programme and Operations teams in the CO, staff of other UN Agencies, UNDP Communications Group staff (the Regional Communications Adviser and HQ) Government officials, media, multilateral and bilateral donors and civil society. The Digital Content Associate promotes a clientoriented approach in UNDP.

Scope of Work:

Support and oversee UNDP Lebanon’s digital and social media presence:

  • Updating and improving UNDP Lebanon’s website’s content in coordination with Communication Team and IT and in lie with corporate guidelines;
  • Posting updates on UNDP Lebanon’s website: press releases, press clippings events and activities & publications;
  • Maintaining a source pool of high quality pictures of beneficiaries for UNDP publications, website and advocacy material;
  • Documenting UNDP projects and events by taking photos;
  • Manage UNDP Lebanon’s social media accounts;
  • Manage the social media calendar and develop content (stories, posts, captions) and key strategic messages to be used across UNDP Lebanon’s digital platforms;
  • Manage digital campaigns such as Facebook ads, email shots, and messenger bots;
  • Support in email marketing, measure engagement, and follow-up on results;
  • Work with project communication staff to create and repurpose engaging content for the web and other digital channels;
  • Advise colleagues who travel to the field on best practices and opportunities to gather digital-friendly content;
  • Monitor, analyse and report on traffic and engagement on the main digital channels;
  • Support in implementing UN digital campaigns.

Support to the Country Office digital communications strategy:

  • Work with the Senior Communications and Media Officer to develop and implement a digital communications strategy;
  • Support the development and implementation of journalist and blogger outreach strategy;
  • Assist in developing a risk management matrix and processes to manage reputational risk;
  • Define KPIs and monitor and measure the digital platforms’ performance;
  • Develop monthly analytical reports on performance and targeted digital campaigns;
  • Be across trends in the social media space, review best practice and make recommendations on how to improve UNDP Lebanon’s digital platforms and presence;
  • Help position UNDP Lebanon as a key, trusted source of content.

Institutional Arrangement:

The Digital Content Associate will work under the direct supervision of the Senior Communications and Media Officer and in close coordination with UNDP programme and project staff.

Minimum Qualifications of the Successful NPSA:

Education:

  • Completion of Secondary Education is required; or
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications/Web Design, or other related fields.

Experience:
Minimum 6 years with secondary education or 3 years with a Bachelor’s degree of progressive relevant experience at the national level in providing online communication packages to promote the activities of international development organization.

Required Language(s):
Fluency in English and Arabic required.

Required skills: 

  • Highly motivated, pleasant character, skills in oral and written communication;
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and accurately;
  • Teamwork spirit and willingness to learn and embrace additional responsibilities within the team;
  • Ability to work and deliver under pressure and tight deadlines.

Desired skills:

  • Experience in handling of web-based management systems, social channels including Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, Link;
  • Experience of Content Management Systems, web reporting tools and basic HTML;
  • Experience with UN or international donor project(s) is an asset;
  • Knowledge of French is an asset.
