SMEX is recruiting a full-time Social Media Officer to handle publishing content on social media, in addition to community management on all SMEX’s social media platforms.

 

Responsibilities 

  • Co-create and implement alongside the Communication Officer communication plans for projects across the organization. 
  • Design and implement an effective social media strategy.
  • Create and diffuse content on SMEX social media channels (including Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, etc.) to promote SMEX’s mission and projects, including Bread&Net.
  • Manage and support strategic communication tasks.
  • Support the Digital Content Manager in coordinating, creating, and managing SMEX’s content across our platforms (Websites, Social Media, Newsletters, etc.) in both English and Arabic.
  • Brief, follow up, and coordinate with the graphic designers and multimedia officer for online and offline campaigns and publications.
  • Maintain the presence and visibility of SMEX in the press and actively pursue opportunities for visibility.
  • Contribute to the monthly user engagement reports on social media platforms and SMEX website and other reporting documentation needed.
  • Monitor SEO and web traffic metrics.
  • Work with the Advocacy Officer to create effective advocacy campaigns across social media platforms

 

Qualifications

  • Familiarity with SMEX’s core work and must share common human rights values around privacy, users’ rights, digital surveillance, data protection, freedom of expression, accessibility, open culture, etc.
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills.
  • Respect for deadlines and iterative processes.
  • Experience organizing measurable online campaigns, preferably for an advocacy-oriented organization.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills.
  • Fluent in Arabic and English (both spoken and written).
  • Good experience in media management.
  • Degree in Journalism or Communications or any relevant field is encouraged.
  • Experience in social media management and communications.
  • Curiosity and willingness to experiment with knowledge dissemination in unconventional ways.
  • Up-to-date knowledge about current trends and tools in the social media field.
  • Experience and knowledge of the development, implementation, and management of digital strategies and tools.
  • Ability to work independently and report relevant information clearly and concisely.
  • Diplomatic and patient nature.
  • Strong networking ability.
