LASeR - The Lebanese Association for Scientific Research is a non-profit organization, one of the leading organizations in providing scholarships, educational loans and access to higher education opportunities in Lebanon. Therefore, LASeR is seeking to provide a brighter future for the city through investing our efforts in projects and programs to lead the students through their educational journey and insure the fulfillment of their dreams and their access to job market.  

Our Capacity Building Department includes a variety of programs that aim to develop the abilities and capacities of students and participants. YESS - Youth Empowered Syrians in Secondary, is a program designed to increase the number of enrolled Syrian students in secondary in Lebanon. The program offers academic, languages, and capacity building support to students who are about to enroll in high-schools or already enrolled but at risk of dropping out. This support system helps students who passed the “brevet” official exams to break any barriers regarding the enrollment in the secondary education in Lebanon, integrates them with Lebanese students, and helps them get over many obstacles such as the English language and School’s registrations.

LASeR is looking for an assistant responsible for the day-to-day implementation of the YESS program. This new team member will be responsible for the follow-up with students succeeded in grade 9 & 11, trainers, academic/English teachers. Getting involved in the outreach, design and implementation of any support activities for the students (Workshops, hands on activities, networking events ….), and prepare the logistics related (Preparation, attendance, Purchasing, financials, Follow up with different stakeholders, day to day logistics).

Roles & Responsibilities:

Work closely with students, programs manager, program coordinator and program officer.

Follow up with students on a daily/weekly basis.

Weekly Reporting to the project coordinator and program officer.

Participate in all meetings about Student’s status

Collect and enter data for monitoring and evaluation processes e.g., database, student daily attendance, students’ grades...

Follow up on the logistics of the program (Attendance, academic performance, daily issues, salaries, procurement and scholarship hunting…)

Skills:

Good documentation and writing skills

Previous experience of working with refugees

Great listener with great problem-solving skills

Detail oriented and task driven

Proficient with Microsoft Office

Strong communication skills

Good analytical thinking

 

Qualifications and Personal attributes:

Fluency in Arabic, English, French is a plus

Passionate about Education, and Education for the vulnerable in specific

Creative and can think of solutions to existing social problems

Enthusiastic, well-organized, efficient and flexible

Honest, transparent, patient and humble

Team player, well oriented

Strong sense of responsibility and accountability

Hard worker adapting to changing situation

Self-motivated and has a high sense of initiative
