Community hygiene promoter (CHP)/service Team Leader

Responsibilities: (in bullet points)

• Plan the weekly activities for his/her team and have them approved by his/her Project manager within deadlines.
• Participate with the project Manager in the prioritization of the target areas for Akkarouna’s intervention and support and supervise field data collection process (community group discussions, focus group discussions).
• Supervise and monitor each stage of activity. Ensure that standards and instructions given by his/her project manager, are followed, in compliance with Akkarouna’s procedures.  
• Report back any problems and constraints encountered during the course of the activities and suggest operational solutions.
• Conduct regular site visits and implement follow-up/assessment tools to ensure good implementation of the activities and its impact on beneficiaries.
• Supervise, implement and partake in drafting the SOP for Youth committees and Solid waste pilot project.
• Conduct quality control over all activities databases under his/her management to ensure databases are matching, clean and report any discrepancies.
• Comply with Akkarouna’s policies and practices with respect to child protection, code of conduct, Child Safeguarding Policy, equal opportunities and other relevant policies and procedures.

Team Management

• Supervise and train field officers to ensure timely and quality implementation.
• Ensure that performance reviews are carried out according to a defined procedure, and monitor the professional development of staff under his/her supervision.
• Handle the recruitment of daily workers, follow procedures and directives outlined by his/her project manager
• Monitor the quality and quantity of material delivered to working sites.
• Ensure the receipt and storage of material and equipment necessary for his/her work to be carried out on site.

Reporting/Communication

• Partake on submission of high-quality reports; internally (APU, weekly, quarterly/ interim and final reports, as needed) to the Project manager, and externally (Activity Info, RDMS, etc., as needed) with proper supporting documentation.
• Ensure the proper archiving of data related to project implementation by the team.
• Draw up and submit a weekly task report (which should include progress made by the team) to his/her project manager.
• Take part in the drafting of the monthly program pack
• Establish and maintain good relations with local participants and communities (populations) in the operational fields

Experience and technical competencies required: (include years of experience)

• At least 2-year experience in a similar position, for NGO sector.
• Proven previous experience providing rapid emergency response WASH services as part of a rapid response task force.
• Proven previous experience in emergency water trucking, chlorination, Hygiene promotion and water quality analysis.
• Proven previous experience in hygiene promotion, including distribution of NFIs and targeting, and integration of protection, health, menstrual hygiene management in hygiene promotion.
• Proven previous experience in rapid needs assessments, baseline surveys, and security assessments.
• Experience in working in tense security context with strict security rules.
• Experience in remote project management would be an asset.
• Strong, developed leadership ability, and effective project and staff management skills required;
