Soins Infirmiers et Development Communautaire (SIDC), Lebanese Down syndrome Association (LDSA), and Justice Without Frontiers (JWF) are implementing a 6-month project funded by the International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES) for Inclusive Employment entitled “Identify, Interpret, and Respond”. The project runs from May 2020 to the end of August 2020. The overall objectives of the action are 1) promoting a non-discriminatory inclusive work environment in the private sector and 2) advocating for an amendment of the Lebanese labour law towards better inclusion and protection of marginalized groups in the labour market.

In order to achieve the first objective, one of the activities involves developing and piloting a self-audit checklist for private sector employers regarding abiding by equal opportunity employment. 

The checklist would be part of non-discrimination and inclusivity audit mechanisms in the public and private sectors to ensure equal opportunity employment regardless of gender, disability status, sexual orientation, and HIV status.

The employment coalition intends on developing and piloting this self-audit checklist where the organizations will take on a self-audit in inclusion and enforcement of equal opportunity within a gender an inclusionary lens while safeguarding meritocracy. The coalition aims at advertising this activity to 20 employers and implementing it across ten of them.  

The purpose of the checklist is assessing the organisation’s current hiring and inclusion practices. Evaluating for any discriminatory procedures, whether intentionally or unintentionally. Concluding a clear understanding of organisation’s employment routines, strengths, and weaknesses in terms of employment inclusivity and diversity.

  Job Description:

The consultant will coordinate with SIDC throughout their employment period in order to create the self-audit checklist.

Duties and responsibilities:

The consultant will be responsible to:

  • Develop the self-audit checklist for implementation amongst ten private sector employers.
  • Discuss the checklist with SIDC and partners and amend accordingly.

 Qualifications and experiences:

  • Proven experience in the development of organisational checklists for conducting assessments on organisational practices.
  • Knowledge on human rights and equal opportunity employment is an asset.
  • Knowledge on local and international labour laws is an asset.
