Project Coordinator - Climate-Smart Livelihoods Initiatives and Market Access Tailoring (CLIMAT)

 

CLIMAT is a one-year Food for Training (FFT) project implemented by Cooperation Without Borders (CWB) and the Environment and Sustainable Development Unit (ESDU) at the American University of Beirut and funded by the German Cooperation through the World Food Program (WFP). It aims to sustainably improve the skills, capacities and livelihood opportunities of vulnerable Lebanese and Syrian refugees in Northeast Baalbeck and West Bekaa. CLIMAT will build capacities for women and youth, provide agriculture training for individuals and cooperatives including skills building and material support, and create market linkages. Three value chains will be targeted including small ruminant production, alternative and climate-smart agricultural crop production, and agro-food processing. 

 

Under this project, CWB is seeking to recruit a Project Coordinator having extensive managerial and communication skills to coordinate implementation of all activities and ensure the successful realization of the project deliverables. He/she directly coordinates with CWB Chairman and reports to ESDU Project Coordinator.

 

 

Objectives

The objective of the Project Coordinator position is to coordinate schedules, resources, equipment and information across all project activities and ensure that all milestones are met as the project evolves. The project coordinator shall perform various coordinating duties, like schedule and risk management, as well as administrative tasks, including maintaining project documentation and managing financial queries.

 

 

Scope of Work

 

  • The Project Coordinator will be primarily responsible of the following activities:
  • Oversee the overall implementation of CWB Food for Training project
  • Conduct regular field monitoring visits to provide support to field staff and relevant stakeholders and to ensure quality implementation
  • Monitor and track expenditure on a monthly basis, and ensure forecasts are updated based on activities and in compliance with donor regulations
  • Send narrative, financial and other relevant reports for ESDU partner and donor as required. This will involve communicating with and compiling data from Financial Officer, Field Officers and Agriculture Engineer
  • Coordinate the necessary needs assessment, gap analysis and scoping exercises to redefine CWB priority interventions and strategic planning context in coordination with CWB Chairman
  • Support project research, evaluations, and baseline studies with technical advice and guidance
  • Oversee the implementation and maintenance of M&E tools and frameworks
  • Co-design technical guidelines that outline processes, procedures, and strategies for project implementation
  • Establish positive relations and close collaboration with municipalities, local communities and other organizations involved in economic development & livelihood projects in the region
  • Ensure information is efficiently communicated between the different project stakeholders
  • Represent CWB in sector coordination with partner and technical authorities
  • Ensure collaboration with interagency coordination units
  • Establish and maintain networks with existing community structures and other partners for referral and networking purposes
  • Conduct a mapping exercise for all implementing divisions and maintain linkages for collaboration and support in provision of services – these include Field Officers, Agriculture Engineer, and Financial Officer
  • Provide weekly and monthly reports to CWB Chairman and ESDU Coordinator highlighting individual performance and progress with respect to milestones and targets
  • Manage project cash flow and prepare monthly cash flow projections in coordination with the Financial Officer to be shared with CWB Chairman
  • Relocate or face a longer commute as and when required

 

 

Essential Minimum Qualifications

 

  • Advanced university degree in management, agriculture engineering (with a project management experience) or relevant fields
  • Proven work experience as a Project Coordinator or related position
  • Proven experience in managing human resources
  • An ability to develop and interpret schedules, flowcharts and action plans
  • Strong organizational skills, including time-management and multitasking
  • Knowledge and exposure to the social and cultural values of the region
  • Knowledge of climate smart agriculture principles
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills
  • Excellent knowledge of Arabic and English languages

 

 

Main Deliverables/Expected achievements:

 

  • Guidelines outlining processes or strategies for project implementation are developed.
  • Timely weekly and monthly reporting to ESDU Coordinator is held.
  • Reporting to CWB Chairman is held.
  • Linkages and collaboration between all stakeholders throughout the project activities are ensured.
  • CWB is well-represented in inter-agencies meetings.
  • Tasks are well-allocated to CWB staff and individual responsibilities are clarified.
  • All progress is described and shared with M&E unit.
  • All inquiries raised by staff, cooperating partner and donor are addressed.
  • Schedules and implementation plans are followed, and activities are timely achieved.
  • All project activities are well implemented, and desired deliverables are reached.
  • Budget is monitored in collaboration with the Financial Officer, and all milestones are met within the allocated budget.
