Finance Consultant

The Department Levant, based in Zurich, manages programmes and projects in Lebanon and
Jordan. To improve its partner organisations’ capacity in financial management (project and
overall) – i.e. accounting, financial reporting, financial standards and procedures, audits, internal
processes, etc. –, the Department Levant is looking for mandating a freelance consultant in Finance.
Duties
- Analyse the financial and administrative capacities (staff, governance, policies, procedures,
systems, tax requirements) of potential partners and give recommendations for capacity
building (pre-assessments)
- Analyse the funding and revenue sources as well as business plans of partners and give recommendations
for strengthening financial sustainability and increasing revenues
- Strengthen partners' skills in financial management (general and individual training workshops
for partners, hands-on coaching for individual staff and/or organisations)
- Evaluate and monitor partners’ overall organisational budgets and financial statements
- Evaluate and monitor partners’ annual external audit reports
- Evaluate and monitor partners' project budgets and financial reports and their compliance
with funding agreements and external audit reports
- Exchange with and report to Drosos Foundation
Requirements
- Master’s degree or equivalent related to the duties
- At least 5 years of relevant professional experience
- Strong working knowledge of English (oral and written) and fluency in Arabic is required
(preferably also French for work in Lebanon)
- Deep knowledge of applicable Lebanese respective Jordanian laws and regulations within
duties’ related fields
- Ready to work as a freelancer on mandate basis
- Ready to work with grassroots organisations as well as community-based organisations,
civil society organisations, institutions, start-ups, established businesses, as well as with
profit-oriented companies or social businesses
- Ready to adapt style of work to the specificities of each entity and to develop tools, procedures
and mechanisms that suit a partner’s capacity and purpose (solution oriented, ready
to think out of the box, hands-on-approach)
- Strong self-motivation, highly committed to perform well and work of good quality
- Strong social skills, particularly good communication skills
- Works efficiently and is flexible regarding working hours and requirements
- High professionalism and commitment to Drosos Foundation’s values
