About Us:

Women Now is a grassroots feminist organization, led by a majority of women that works to empower girls and women in Lebanon. It believes that meaningful engagement of girls and women is essential to achieving full and equal rights and a better future.

About the Project:

Since 2019, Women has been supporting the "Let Us Keep Our Childhood" campaign in the Central Bekaa Valley. It is a grassroots campaign fully led by constituencies that are affected by child marriage. The campaign is predominantly led by women, as well as adolescent girls, men and adolescent boys from the Syrian, Lebanese and Palestinian communities living in the Bekaa Valley. The campaign is based on the methodologies of community organizing, participatory leadership, and transformative feminist, all of which push towards grassroots community change. During this period and through four phases, the campaign succeeded in canceling many cases of child marriage in the central Bekaa. This project is partnership between Women Now and FES to support the campaign in its fifth phase towards canceling more cases of child marriage in the region.

Contract Type:

Part-Time, two days per week, 6 hours each.

Key Responsibilities:

- Manage the project in Lebanon under the supervision of the advocacy manager and the country director.

- Coordinate between the campaign, Women Now, and FES.

- Manage campaign teams activities financially and logistically.

- Manage and deliver project work plans to required quality and deadlines.

- Provide quality assurance of project outputs/ deliverables and oversight to the short-term project activities and long-term project outcomes.

- Organize, coordinate and facilitate the project events.

- Regular reporting to the advocacy manager.

- Contribute to the technical design of project activities.

- Ensure delivery of projects against agreed budgets and provide timely invoicing and financial reporting.

- Provide oversight and take responsibility for project risks/day-to-day active management of risks/identification of project risks and highlighting options to the line manager.

- Undertake any other tasks deemed necessary to ensure the smooth running of the project

Qualifications:

- Excellent understanding of the Syrian Lebanese context.

- 4+ years’ experience working in either Rights-based NGOs, or Humanitarian NGOs.

- Education in women's studies, social work, social sciences, other relevant fields (desirable).

- Demonstrate a clear understanding of gender-transformative justice, intersectionality, human rights, and broader structural issues surrounding violence against women and girls.

- Experience in working on programs/projects specifically for women and/or adolescent girls.

- Applicants should also be able to demonstrate a keen interest in Women Now’s values and strong motivation in putting them into practice.

Personal Skills:

- Strong experience in project management, the ability to organize work, meet deadlines, maintain composure, pressure, and maintain attention to detail.

- High feminist knowledge.

- Experience in planning, executing and facilitating training workshops and mentoring others.

- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

- The ability to command respect and to create a sense of community amongst the members of the project teams.

-  Sufficient seniority and credibility to advise the project team on their tasks in relation to the project.

- Excellent problem-solving ability.

- Good report writing skills and attention to detail.

- A self-starter with an efficient and hard-working approach.

- Dynamic, creative and driven.

- Good Skills in Microsoft Word, Powerpoint, and Excel, as well as video communication platforms.

Language Skills:

- Strong knowledge of written and spoken Arabic and English.
