About Teach for Lebanon

 

Teach For Lebanon (TFL) is an NGO working to ensure that all children in Lebanon, regardless of socioeconomic background, have Access to quality education. The model of Teach For Lebanon is an education innovation that focuses on youth capacity building to provide quality intervention and systemic support for students. TFL employs and trains Lebanon’s most promising graduates, “TFL Fellows”, and places them in schools serving underprivileged refugees and Lebanese children. These Fellows receive ongoing training and support to address educational disadvantages by providing transformational teaching that places their students on a path of academic success. Along the way, they become leaders and advocates for a better Lebanon.

About the Project

The project aims to provide awareness-raising sessions to students on environmental topics. The sessions will enable the students to become active citizens and advocates for the environment in Lebanon. A third component aims at providing awareness to students, teachers, and parents on healthy nutrition. Several topics will be covered to bring knowledge to the students and enable them to make better choices regarding their health and well-being. Up to 8 IT specialists will be recruited to prepare and update the electronic devices in up to 80 public schools. Up to 30 TFL Alumni will be recruited to provide technical and awareness training in up to 80 schools around Lebanon. These Alumni will in turn be supported by up to 26 TFL Fellows in preparing the activities to be performed with the students.

Role Summary

The Senior Project Officer will be responsible for overall project coordination, planning, and execution. He\she will manage activities, set project goals, allocate resources, track progress, and ensure timely delivery within budget and scope. In detail, the project coordinator will be following up with the Alumni and Fellows on the implementation of the sessions through phone calls and virtual meetings. Moreover, the project coordinator will be going on up to 20 school visits to attend the training sessions for quality control and feedback.

The Senior Project Officer will be working directly with the Alumni Coordinator regarding TFL Alumni strategy and implementation of activities and will report to the Director of Partner Programs when it comes to the Project. The second responsibility will be to implement Alumni strategy set by the Alumni Coordinator, connecting alumni and sharing information, mobilizing them through events and professional development, and celebrating their achievements and moments of success This will help to achieve the objective of creating a more connected and empowered Alumni community. 

 

Main Accountabilities 

 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

Partner Project

 

  • Ensure overall project coordination, planning, and execution, including strategy, activities, and alumni engagement.

  • Assist in reaching out and recruiting the fellows and alumni who will administer the training.

  • Manage activities, set project goals, allocate resources, track progress, and ensure timely delivery within budget and scope.

  • Lead as the focal point on the coordination of the communication between partner schools and alumni engaged in the training on the platforms after alignment with the Director of Partner Programs.

  • Coordinate with the Alumni working on the project in different regions to ensure alignment of activities in support, planning, and implementation. 

  • Coordinate the training administered by Fellows and Alumni: 

    • Setting training plans and schedule

    • Plan all training logistics in coordination with the Procurement & Logistics Department (venue, F&B, stationery, etc.) 

  • Develop a project calendar and share it with relevant stakeholders at the organization.

  • Attend at least 20 training sessions at schools where the project is implemented for quality control and feedback.

  • Coordinate with the MEAL Department to measure the outcomes and impact of the activities. 

  • Work with the program’s team to incorporate the Alumni mission and benefits in recruiting students and teachers. 

  • Coordinate formal program communications and information (website and social media platforms) in liaison with TFL Communications Department after aligning with the Director of Partner Programs.

  • Report to the Director of Partner Programs on the project’s periodic basis, highlighting project activities and progress. 

 

TFL Fellowship

 

  • Co-develop and Implement the strategy for engaging Alumni during and after they complete the Fellowship program. 

  • Follow up on alumni interventions on critical points of the Fellowship journey.

  • Follow up on alumni activities to achieve the objectives outlined in the Alumni Strategy (capacity building, networking events, etc.)

  • Implement quarterly capacity-building programs for Alumni as planned by the Alumni Coordinator.

  • Assist in creating an alumni committee that will help alumni to self-organize and form a structured entity.

  • Facilitate the alumni space created to enable alumni to connect.

  • Support the cultivation and hiring of Alumni for potential staff positions and volunteer opportunities. 

  • Help create opportunities for Alumni to support the organization’s mission and their respective experience. 

  • Collect Alumni success stories and achievements to highlight the program’s impact.

  • Continuously update the Alumni database using cost-effective strategies

  • Follow up on administration of the global alumni survey and share results with MEAL team

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

 

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor's degree.

Experience

 

  • 2 years of experience in a similar position.

 

Technical Skills

 

  • Fluency in English and Arabic. 

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office. 

 

Additional Knowledge

 

  • Being a TFL Alum is preferred. 

 

 

Working Conditions

Location: The chosen candidate will be based in the Achrafieh Office. 

Package: Competitive salary based on experience with NSSF and Medical-Life Insurance benefits.

Other: Willingness to work on the weekends in case of possible events/training.
