Research / Study on Energy Transition

The research analyst will carry out a study on energy transition in Lebanon based on three phases of inquiry:

• Phase 1:

• Identification of energy constraints in the agriculture and small production industry sectors in Mount Lebanon.
• Sector challenges to achieve transition to renewable energies/ sustainable alternatives
• Identify the economic impact of these constraints and challenges on the sectors mentioned above utilizing Swisscontact and its partners existing networks of businesses in these industries and other networks and connections.

• Phase 2:
• Assess skills gaps and needs for MSEs in the energy provision and installation sector to achieve the transition to sustainable/renewable energies
• Identify the training needs for skills development for MSEs in the energy sector based on the identified skills gaps and needs

• Phase 3:

• Evaluation of the feasibility and impact of current energy alternatives in Mount Lebanon
• Identification of opportunities to develop energy transition in the sectors listed above, priority areas of improvement, and key actions related to energy transition at the national level.
• Carry out stakeholder analysis to clarify their potential role in the development of successful energy transition projects
• Map potential partners in the energy transition/ renewable energies sectors
• Assess readiness of stakeholders to collaborate on intervention areas
