PSS Coordinator

 

SHAHD Association announces the need for a PSS Coordinator, to work within the project: BRAVE (Building Resilient and Vibrant Environments), this project is implemented in partnership with ARCPA - Funded by UNICEF.

 

  • Job Title: PSS Coordinator
  • Duty Station/Location: Baalbeck- Wavel Camp
  • Working Days: 6 days a week 
  • Salary: 600$ 
  • Duration: from 1st of April to 30th of September 

Job Purpose:
The Psychosocial Support (PSS) Specialist will be responsible for strengthening the quality of Children's psychosocial support programmes which form a key part of our emergency response efforts and development programming. The PSS Specialist will advise on programme design, train staff, support new programme start up, review current activities, provide technical advice, manage MPHSS cases, and co-lead the coordination of the Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) Working Groups.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and manage the tasks of PSS coordinator in close collaboration with lead partner PSS coordinator.
  • Acts as a support back stopper for a team of Psychosocial support animators/facilitators in the center
  • Perform as a focused nonspecialized PSS and child protection case management coordinator
  • Follow up children in need for extra support related to emotional, behavioral, relational, and other difficulties including Child Protection concerns of abuse and ensure the engagement of the family where appropriate.
  • Manage internal referral from the center animators and other referrals from community as well from other service providers 
  • Follow up children in need for focused nonspecialized PSS. Assess children and identify difficulties, develop a focused PSS follow up plan for each case, conduct individual sessions with goals and tasks that will help children meet goals. 
  •  Lead Permanent guidance for the animators/facilitators in contact with the child (giving instructions, and information about suitable adaptations of activities within the group of children that serves in the intervention plan for a child in focused PSS) 
  • Validate animators’ observations related to referred children and asses their condition and needs using standardized and validated case file tools. 
  • Follow up children in child in need for protection under case management CPCM standard operating procedures (SOPs)using CPCM file for the cases identified under any type of child abuse. Creating and monitoring Intervention plan 
  • Assess and report high risk cases that require specific actions, responses  or referral.
  • Develop intervention plan accordingly with the mental health specialist through a case management process 

 

  • Coordinate with caregivers and children and refer to the mental health specialist/ psychologist or /and specialized services 
  • Conduct visits, meeting with stakeholders and outreach visits to touch base on protection trends 
  • Coordinate and work closely with child protection networks
  • Support the facilitators in organizing and running recreational and sport activities, socialization for children and Youth
  • Establish a service mapping and conduct regular awareness raising sessions with target community
  • Ensure accurate and timely documentation of services provided to clients and ensure confidentiality, safety and best interest of the children
  • Prepare monthly/quarterly report as required and maintain accurate records of all cases information in computerized systems IM
  • Assist children with problems in social adjustments and provide support to parent in child nurturing problems. 
  • Perform assessment of home conditions to highlight areas of strength and weakness and to plan accordingly for intervention.
  • Mobilise resources for families and children and link them to available resources.
  • Evaluate children concerning reported abuse and neglect.
  • Create and implement core childcare plans and programs to meet the diverse needs of each assigned child emotionally and physically.
  • Create and implement appropriate activities based on individual child’s capacity with respect to differences.
  • Ensure inclusive, safety, secure surroundings ,child friendly space and nurturing environment for  all children by applying safety measures  and CP standards.
  • Monitor children to ensure their health and emotional wellbeing and communicate any significant evaluation to parents
  • Maintain good communication with parents and guardians and provide them with updates on their children’s wellbeing and progress
  • Implement gender responsive activities to provide children with physical and emotional stimulation.
  • Promote diversity  ,equity and inclusion through all activities 
  • Perform other related duties as may be assigned

Training 

  • Provide training programs on behavior, parenting, child development and child protection for caregivers and topics that serves as self-reflected caregivers /parent support.
  •  Provide training for staff on child Protect and all forms of abuse and neglect.
  • Provide Parenting Skills sessions.
  • Formulate training for staff within continuous capacity building plan.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum five years of experience working in MHPSS Field
  • Bachelor’s degree in  Sociology or Psychology and or Child rights Higher degree is preferred or related work experience.
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English and Arabic languages.

Job Procedures:

  • Only Candidates with the required qualifications and at least having first dose vaccine or ready to be vaccinated will be included in the short list.
  • Shortlisted Candidates will be invited for a Technical Test (60% of total grade) & interview (40% of total grade) conducted in English.
  • Priority will be given to fully qualified registered Palestinian refugees’ candidates in Wavel Camp.
  • Only the top 05- ranked-candidates in the technical test will be invited for the interview.
  • Reference check is a prerequisite for confirmation of recruitment
