Translation Services

1. About Seenaryo
Seenaryo is a leading specialist in theatre and play-based learning with under-served communities in Lebanon, Jordan and Palestine. We use theatre and play to transform education and support people to learn, lead, heal and thrive in their classrooms and communities. Having reached over 110,000 children, youth and women since 2015, Seenaryo was winner of the Arts, Culture & Heritage prize at the 2023 UK Charity Awards, has received a 2023 Innovation Award from TheirWorld, and was one of Expo 2020 Dubai’s 120 Global Innovators.

2. About the Scenechangers Programme
Funded by the DROSOS Foundation, Seenaryo launched the Scenechangers project in March 2023 which aims at providing sustained employment pathways for youth who have upskilled through theatre under Seenaryo’s programming in Jordan and Lebanon. The project will train and employ 128 youth Scenechangers (aged 18-30) to teach the curriculum through theatre and aims to embed them in schools and CBOs to run play-based, participatory workshops that respond to curriculum needs for 12-15-year-olds. These workshops will in turn build the life skills, engagement, and well-being of a total of 20,800 School Youth who will participate in workshop classes taught by Scenechangers.

3. Objectives
The Scenechangers project is currently at its development phase of the training content and material, training plans and guides. The development phase started in February 2024 and will continue up until early May 2024. All the materials are being developed in the English language and we want to translate all documents to the Arabic language. The plan is to translate each document as soon as it's finalised so the scope of work will start in April and end in May 2024.

We are seeking to hire a translator (individual or company), to translate all the documents developed under the Scenechangers programme, from English into Arabic.
 

4. Scope of Work
Attend an induction meeting with the Seenaryo team to have a good understanding of the expected final product.

The documents to be translated:

• 10 training sessions (approximately 80 pages)
• Level 1 and Level 2 Training of Trainers Sessions (approximately 50 pages)
• Facilitator’s guide and Teacher’s guide (approximately 25 pages)
• Other Scenechangers documents (up to 10 pages)

All documents need to be translated from English to Arabic in the best time possible, while maintaining the originality of the report and of the main language. It is encouraged to hold an open communication with the Seenaryo core team, and share updates and challenges if any.
 

Minimum required Profile

• Certified translator and/or 3-5 years of experience in translation from English to Arabic.
• Excellent knowledge on the Arab context (particularly in Lebanon and Jordan), and preferably on topics related to theatre, arts, education, play-based learning, human rights, VAWG, gender equality, diversity and inclusion, youth engagement, peace building etc.
• Experience in translating documents on topics preferably related to youth engagement and life skills
• Excellent communication skills and high flexibility.
   

The consultant shall submit:

• Translation services rates per word, or per page, or per document, including expected timeline of delivery
• Short assignment
• At least two samples of previous work, demonstrating the capacity and experience needed;
• At least 2 professional references (Please indicate name and email address of the reference, and your
