The Project For El Mina Island Preservation
This project consists of establishing a recreational park on the island of Al-Baqar which is found on the Mediterranean coast in El Mina. This park will allow the local population to take advantage of the island for the purposes of entertainment, tourism and maritime and environmental activities and will include a beach volleyball area, a small caf̩ area, walking paths and much more for the enjoyment of the local population as well as tourists.
Overall Objectives:
Improve the social and economic conditions of the residents of the old neighborhoods through the development of environmental tourism
Consolidate environmental awareness and develop the human capacities necessary for executing maritime environmental activities
Bring together the local youth by involving them in the project on the island
Develop entertaining and cultural activities for youth
Stimulate the local economy by attracting the tourists
Activities:
Rehabilitation of the island
Equipping the island with recreational materials
Training the local community who will become staff members in running the activities of the island
Media campaign to draw the local population and tourists to the island
