presentation: Un Ponte Per (UPP) is an Italian NGO established in 1991. It started its activities as “Un ponte per Baghdad”, in the aftermath of the first Gulf war, with the aim of organizing solidarity initiatives in support of the Iraqi civilian population. UPP missions expanded to include other Middle Eastern and Mediterranean countries. UPP aims at preventing armed conflicts, protecting human rights and supporting local civil society, especially in the Middle East, by promoting the nexus between its humanitarian, peacebuilding and development programs. UPP in Lebanon seeks to promote the principles of peace, human rights and solidarity among people and communities.

Un Ponte Per is currently implementing a project entitled “Amn Al-Insani” in partnership with Permanent Peace Movement (PPM), in Aley and Chouf Districts. The project endeavors to improve communities’ safety and security in Mount Lebanon, promoting key actors’ understanding of human security and enabling the adoption of food security trends, increased advocacy efforts and community-based initiatives.

 

Objective of the Assignment

 

The objective of this training is to equip local farmers, producers, processors and COOPs/CSOs within the targeted Districts of Chouf and Aley, with entrepreneurship skills that allow them to develop, implement and manage Agricultural businesses.

 

On completion of the program, all participants will:

 

  1. Understand the concept of Agripreneurship;
  2. Evaluate the key skills involved in running a business;
  3. Identify markets, map resources and conduct business planning;
  4. Understand the basic principles of financial management, sales and risk management;
  5. Perform operations and financial record keeping;
  6. Build a business and manage relationships.

Scope of Work:

The workshops are to cover the following distinct subject areas:

  1. Introduction to Enterepreunership/Agripreneurship (Defining the business idea, Criteria for a successful business, ...)
  2. key skills involved in running a business.
  3. Identifying markets, mapping resources and conducting business planning.
  4. Financial management, sales and risk management
  5. Record Keeping (Operations record keeping and Financial record keeping)
  6. Building a business and managing relationships (Putting plans into action and monitoring progress + Farmer groups, cooperatives and associations)

Expected Deliverable & Outcome:

 

Deliverable:

  1. Entrepreneurship Training plan and modules are properly designed, documented, and delivered.
  2. Materials are submitted before the start of the training workshops so the training manual can be designed, printed and distributed for the trainees.   

 

Outcomes:

  1. Training participants will develop a comprehensive business idea.
  2. Training participants will be able to utilize their entrepreneurship skills to start their business in a professional manner.

 

Participants:

150 local farmers, producers, processors and COOPs/CSOs within the targeted Districts of Chouf and Aley.

 

Training Duration:

The training program is expected to be completed in 4 months (Mid-March to Mid-July 2022).

 

Methodology:

 

  1. 10 Training workshops to be conducted at 10 different locations in Chouf and Aley (following the health protocols)
  2. Each training workshop is expected to be a 3 – 4 hours per day for 10 days.
  3. The training will be delivered in Arabic.

 

The consultant will be contracted and managed by UPP Lebanon, UPP will cover the cost and provide support for the identification and contracting of training venue, printing of training materials, and related logistics

 

Essential requirements

 

Experts assigned to this project by the vendor must possess the following skills and qualifications:

  •  Trainer(s) should hold in minimum a bachelor’s degree in agricultural engineering, Management or any other related field.
  • He/she should have at least 5 years of work experience in training in similar field.
  • The trainer(s) must have profound knowledge on challenges faced by farmers / producers / processors in agriculture/ agri-business sector in Aley and Chouf districts, with the issued addressed during the training.
  • Good conceptual, writing and presentation skills
  • Excellent command of the Arabic and English language (oral and written)
  • Computer skills in word, excel and power point.
