MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

The communication advisor organise, implement and moinitor the internal and external operational communication strategies and materials, while building MdM visibility. S/he will identify communication opportunities and objectives that assist the projects’ goal, develop relevant content, identify audiences and utilize effective communication tools.

The communication advisor will assure compliance with the planning and and guideline of MdM, partners and donors. S/he promote the quality of theactivites, pracitica and report.

Other: Strong collaboration with MHPSS coordinator, Consortium coordinator, Program coordinator, Field Coordinators.

 

 

ROLES:

 

                    1/ Strategy and Compliance

  • Implement and update AFD’s communication action plans in regards to the operational and advocacy strategy of the mission
  • Lead ReCEVAL’s project communication working group
  • Lead the organization of communication events, and support the programs teams and the partners in the implementation of communication activities and develop a visibility calendar of events
  • Identify communication opportunities (international days, opening/closing of projects...), propose and put in place communication actions
  • Ensure the compliance of the mission towards donors’ communication guidelines and requirements

                2/ Design and production of communication tools;

  • Support the programs teams and the consortium partners to define messages and design communication tools consistent with the programs purpose and content in collaboration with any graphic designer and media developed if needed
  • Creation of communication tools contributing to reinforce MdM visibility in Lebanon
  • Support MdM team in ensuring adequate visibility in its project (MdM, consortium and donor’s visibility)
  • Writing of articles and regular stories for the MdM communication media and support configuration of key messages if needed
  • Collection of testimonies from the beneficiaries for the program
  • Organization of videos, audio and photos reports, in connection with HQ communication department when relevant
  • Ensure communication tools respond to target audience and tools are tested with the public

 

3/ Media contacts and relations in Lebanon development and press releases outcomes    monitoring

  • Develop and regularly update the media contact list for Lebanon
  • Meet journalists, develop the network, maintain contacts with journalists.
  • Monitor local and regional media of Arabic, English or French language looking for articles on the organization.
  • In cooperation with the other coordinators, writing of advocacy statements and press kits
  • Identify, organize and lead media events, in cooperation with programs teams and partners

4/ Web and digital communication development

  • Contribute to the updating of MdM Middle East and MDM websites, following validation procedures, including instagram page
  • Definition and implementation of a strategy for the social networks in Lebanon

For more than 40 years, Médecins du Monde, a campaigning medical organization committed to international solidarity, has been caring for the most vulnerable populations at home and abroad. It has continued to highlight obstacles that exist in accessing health care and has secured sustainable improvements in health-for-all policies.

 

Those working for this independent organization do not solely dispense care and treatment but condemn violations of human dignity and rights and fight to improve matters for populations living in precarious situations. 

 

MdM currently works in 30 countries across all continents where it focuses on 5 priority areas: emergency and crisis, sexual and reproductive health, harm reduction, migrants and displaced populations (health rights), health and environment.

 

In Lebanon, MdM has been implementing different programs aiming at strengthening the public health system, while focusing on mental health and psychosocial support. MdM is working in the integration of mental health in the primary healthcare system and contributing to the development of community-based mental healthcare services, opening and running community mental health centers. Activities are based in Beirut, Bekaa Valley and Tripoli.

 

SKILLS REQUIRED:

 

Training & Experience[SS1] 

  • Master’s degree in communication, journalism or filmmaking.
  • 3 to 5 years of relevant related experience
  • Similar experience with humanitarian organizations is a plus.
  • Experience in developing communication strategy and tools
  • Experience of grassroots campaigning, or local groups campaigning;
  • Experience working in coalitions or networks,
  • Good understanding of community-based development and participatory approaches
  • Knowledge and experience of work in the Middle-East is an asset
  • Experience in communication with humanitarian actors, authorities and donors
  • Proven record of knowledge and understanding of the region development and communication scenarios, institutions, and press.
  • Public speaking experience
  • Ready to go in the field on a regular basis,
  • Ability to work with a team as well as to work independently

 

 

Soft and Hard skills

  • Ability to produce high-quality work according to tight deadlines with minimum supervision
  • Knowledge of the following software and programs: Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint), PAO: (Photoshop, Indesign), Web (Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, Mailchimp, Wordpress, google analytics, twitter counter), Video (Final cut)

 

  • Languages: excellent writing and communications skills in English and Arabic. French is a plus.
