Project Officer - Food Distributions

Job Summary

The Project Officer will work under the LHF-funded project ‘ Localized and accountable Food Security and WASH response for 6370 people in Wadi Khaled, Machta Hammoud, and Mazarea Jabal Akroum (Akkar Governorate)’ implemented by We World and Mada Association. Under this project, Mada is responsible for the distributions of fresh food baskets through agricultural cooperatives to vulnerable households and support to small-scale farmers.

The Project Officer will report directly to the Project Manager and be in charge of day-to-day implementation, with focus on the food distributions.

Responsibilities and Tasks

• Supervise the selected cooperatives’ distributions of fresh food baskets on a weekly basis by ensuring on-site presence for quality control.
• Conduct a detailed needs assessment of smallholder farmers in the target areas in Akkar and participate in the selection of 250 farmers to benefit from distributions;
• Support on the distribution of input and equipment packages to smallholder farmers
• Report any challenges and/or issues directly to the Project Manager.
• Support the logistics of any training sessions and distributions under the project.
• Support the component of establishment of small home gardens for beneficiaries as a pilot exit strategy from the food distributions.
• Support Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL) activities, including but not limited to assessment, data collection, and facilitation of Focus Group Discussions.
• Facilitate and support the collection and preparation of communication and visual material in line with the visibility guidelines of the organization and the donors.
• Ensure that data and documentation of all activities are properly collected and archived.
• Maintain full qualitative and quantitative records and reports of activities
• Report to the Project Manager on a daily basis and submit weekly reports as required, highlighting risks and challenges and proposing mitigations and solutions
• Ensure that communication with the beneficiaries is clear, identify any bottlenecks and gaps and report back to the Project Manager

Additional Responsibilities: Any other duties delegated by the Project Manager that align relevant to the role and competencies of the Project Officer.​​​​​​

Minimum Qualification and experience

• Full adherence to Mada’s mission and vision, as well as Ethics Code.
• 2 to 3 years of experience in similar tasks.
• 2-3 years of experience working in NGOs.
• Good organizational, coordination and time-management skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Having previous working experience in Wadi Khaled, Machta Hammoud and Mazarea Jabal Akroum.
• Valid driving license is compulsory.
