Community Mobilizer - Solid Waste Management - Akkar

Job Overview

The Community Mobilizer works under two solid waste projects funded by the EU and AICS,  implemented by Mada in partnership with the Municipality of Fano, COSPE and COOPI- Cooperazione Internazionale. Under this project, Mada is mainly responsible for community mobilization and awareness raising around solid waste.

The Community Mobilizer reports to the Project Manager.

Main Responsibilities

1. Contribute to the fine-tuning of the awareness campaign strategy and then its implementation with the partners involved in this component.
2. Liaise with local authorities, partners, community and the project team to guarantee smooth implementation.
3. Be constantly present on field at all project sites to ensure that community is involved and properly mobilized.
4. Ensure proper communication to communities on the dates and venues of awareness raising sessions and distributions.
5. Provide training sessions as required to various project stakeholders.
6. Provide correct information to the beneficiaries on the scope and strategy of the project.
7. Follow up on all logistics needed for the identified tasks.

Reporting and Learning 

1. Provide the Project Manager with monthly and/or weekly reports based on needs.
2. Collect data from the field as required to feed into project reports.
3. Participate actively in team meetings to discuss challenges, mitigations, and learnings.
4. Ensure that any matter that requires attention is reported for direct action.

Additional Tasks 

• Develop and maintain positive and fruitful relationships with relevant stakeholders, including municipalities, communities, etc.
• Support the Project Manager with any field tasks as needed.

Knowledge and Skills

1. Full adherence to Mada’s mission and vision, as well as Ethics Code.
2. 2-3 years of experience working in NGOs in the development sector.
3. Experience working in the field of Solid Waste and experience in awareness raising and community mobilization.
4. Good time-management skills.
5. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
6. Fluent in Arabic and English.
7. Computer literate.
8. Experience working in the North, and especially Akkar is preferred.
9. Experience working with local authorities and communities.
