The National Commission for the Missing and Forcibly Disappeared NCMFD in Lebanon is an independent institution established by the Lebanese Council of Ministers in June 2020. It is dedicated to addressing the issue of the missing persons in Lebanon and works towards uncovering the truth, providing support to the families of the missing and advocating for justice and accountability.

Job Title: Social Media Officer

Timing and Terms: Part-time position, Permanent, start date immediately

Location: Furn El Chebback- Beirut

Salary: US$ 800 per month

The Social Media Officer will be responsible for developing and implementing social media strategies to raise awareness about the mission and activities of the NCMFD, engage with stakeholders and the public, and promote advocacy efforts related to missing persons and forcibly disappeared.

Key responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive social media strategy aligned with the goals and objectives of the NCMFD
  • Manage and maintain the organization’s social media profiles and presence, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, and any other relevant platforms
  • Create engaging and informative content for social media channels, including posts, graphics, videos, and other multimedia materials
  • Monitor social media channels for relevant discussions, trends, and opportunities to engage with stakeholders and the public
  • Respond to inquiries, comments, and messages received through social media channels in a timely and professional manner
  • Work closely with the Vice-president and Project Manager to ensure that social media content is accurate, consistent, and aligned with organizational messaging
  • Track and analyze key performance metrics for social media activities, and prepare regular reports to assess the effectiveness of social media efforts
  • Stay informed about developments in social media trends, tools, and best practices, and make recommendations for improving the commission’s social media strategy
  • Collaborate with external partners, including media outlets, influencers, and other related entities, to amplify the reach and impact of social media campaigns
  • Assist in organizing and promoting events, campaigns, and other activities related to the mission of the NCMFD

 

Qualifications and experience

  • A university degree in communications, journalism, or a related field
  • Proven experience in managing social media accounts for an organization, preferably in the nonprofit or human rights sector
  • Strong writing, editing, and communication skills, with the ability to create engaging content for diverse audiences
  • Familiarity with social media management tools and analytics platforms
  • Knowledge of human rights issues, particularly related to missing persons and forcibly disappeared, is desirable
  • Fluency in Arabic and English, both written and spoken, is required

  • Exhibits good time management skills, with the ability to prioritize workload, assume responsibility of work, and follow through to completion;
  • Commits to adhering to the Bylaws of the NCMFD, especially the internal Bylaw and the Code of ethics.
