Background

The “Lebanese Democratic Women’s Gathering” (RDFL) is a secular non-governmental women’s organization that was established in 1976. The Gathering woks with democratic forces to achieve full equality between both sexes.

The Gathering’s scope of work falls within the framework of the international pacts and treaties, as well as the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the Universal Declaration on the Elimination of Violence against Women.

The main objectives of the Gathering are:

  • Equality between women and men
  • Lifting all reservations on the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women
  • Implementing all clauses of the International Convention to ensure gender equality in family codes, citizenship code, penal code, labor and social security codes
  • Involving women in decision-making within the family, at work and in politics
  • Protecting and promoting the culture of women’s rights as part of the human rights
  • Eliminating violence against women
  • Networking and coordinating with women and civil society forces to enhance democracy and equality

Lebanese Democratic Women Gathering is a member of a consortium composed of Euromed Feminist Initiative, Care International in Lebanon, and Legal Action Worldwide which is currently implementing the project “Strengthening access to protection, participation and services for women refugees, IDPs and host communities” in Lebanon. The objectives are to enhance security and resilience for Syrian women refugees and women from host communities through supporting and coordinating comprehensive and structured services and referral mechanisms, as well as to support national institutions in their work towards more gender sensitive policy frameworks and legislation. The activities of the project are implemented in 4 regions of Lebanon: Beirut, Mount Lebanon, North Lebanon and Bekaa. The duration of the project is from 2018 to 2020

Duties and Responsibilities

  • The project Coordinator ensures an efficient coordination among project team members
  • Ensure the coherence and the homogeneity of the activities under his/her responsibility.
  • Set up and ensure the continuous monitoring of the activities under his/her management including qualitative and quantitative monitoring; ensuring that proper policy, standards & codes of conduct are enforced.
  • Conduct regular meetings with center managers and service providers.
  • Suggest new operations according to needs identified in the area.
  • Provide input on program development and recommendations, as required
  • Prepare and submit reports in timely manner for the Project Manager
  • Document all activities and outcomes
  • Represent RDFL in relevant events as needed
  • Assist the project team in outreach and awareness activities

Qualifications

  • Holds a University degree preferably related to social work
  • Has experience working on gender related projects
  • Has 1 to 2 years of experience working with an NGO and in the protection field (preferred)
  • Has 1 to 2 years of experience in trainings
  • Possesses strong organizational skills
  • Has a strong understanding of the community and has established working relations with local    CBOs, community leaders, and municipality preferable.
  • Proactive, has strong communication skills and a team player.
  • Has good skills in planning and coordination
  • Is able to manage time and handle multiple tasks concurrently within the deadlines.
  • Has good working knowledge in English (both orally and written).
