LOST is seeking to recruit a Community Facilitation Officer in  Majdel Anjar / Hermel.

Responsibilities:

Community Mobilization and Facilitation:

  • Build and maintain positive relationships with the community.
  • Ensure the integration of child protection and participation principles into all project activities.
  • Regularly meet with staff to plan and monitor project implementation, making necessary improvements.
  • Coordinate with technical officers to ensure their participation, particularly in competency and capacity building.
  • Help develop plans to guide competency and capacity building, ensuring retention of knowledge and skills.

Result: Effective mobilization and facilitation lead to active community participation in projects.

Engagement of Children, Youth, Parents, and Caregivers:

  • Ensure activities are conducted in a safe, clean, and hazard-free environment.
  • Promote non-discriminatory participation in programs and projects, considering age and gender sensitivity.
  • Encourage active involvement of participants.
  • Ensure children feel safe, comfortable, and respected.
  • Make sure all beneficiaries are aware of accountability/complaint mechanisms.
  • Provide regular feedback to parents/caregivers about their child's participation.

Result: Active participation of children, youth, parents, and caregivers in all aspects of projects, including decision-making, monitoring, and evaluation.

Monitoring Activities:

  • Work with staff to monitor and ensure the safety of all project venues.
  • Collaborate with project staff to oversee field activities.
  • Report on the alignment of activities with child safety policies.
  • Strive to reach the targeted number of participants.

Result: Identified and implemented changes ensure project quality and efficiency.

Administrative Support:

  • Assist the Project Management team in their responsibilities.
  • Collect and document necessary information for the database for research, monitoring, and evaluation.
  • Prepare and submit regular reports as required by the supervisor.
  • Address any issues with the supervisor promptly.

Result: Proper reporting, filing, and data entry ensure effective administration.

Program and Project Design Participation:

  • Suggest changes to project designs.
  • Gather information needed for program and project design.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Social Sciences, Sociology, or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience.
  • Preferably experienced in working with children, refugees, or vulnerable populations using a community-based approach.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong facilitation skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proficient computer skills.
  • Fluency in Arabic.
  • Basic proficiency in English is an asset.
  • Flexibility and cultural sensitivity.

All staff must ensure that they understand and act in accordance with this clause.
