Role Summary

The Program Manager, Academic Grants is responsible for establishing and maintaining effective working relationships between the different Schools and all the offices involved in managing grants, e.g. Office of Grants and Contracts, procurement, budget and planning and renovation to ensure a timely development, submission and follow-up.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

  • Coordinates with the Office of Grants and Contracts to ensure compliance of submitted academic grants
  • Works with School representatives, in coordination with the Director of Sponsored Programs, to develop concepts for new grants
  • Works closely with the procurement office and the budget office to monitor the implementation of existing grants
  • Ensures that all grant applications along with their supporting material are properly archived
  • Responds promptly and accurately to all enquiries from School representatives and university offices regarding grants
  • Assists the Director of Sponsored Programs with any tasks involving research and institutional grants
  • Performs bibliometric analysis and write-up of targeted reports
  • Plans and organizes meetings with stakeholders
  • Contributes to the production of general GSR office reports
  • Performs any other tasks related to the job whenever required

Minimum Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science or any related field
  • Minimum 8 years of work experience, with 5 being in the field of grant management
  • PMP Certification is a plus
  • Working knowledge in grant writing is a plus
  • Passion for work, and the initiative to search for new ways to approach matters
  • Excellent organization skills and the ability to manage several assignments at once with a professional approach to time, costs and deadlines
  • Strong team player with a commitment to building a positive team spirit
  • Proficiency in programing such as Python
  • Experience within academic institutions and/or fundraising is a plus
  • Advanced communication and negotiation skills in both English and Arabic (written and spoken)
