Job Overview/Summary:

The feasibility assessment consultant will undertake several Focus Group Discussions and Key informant interviews with beneficiaries and stakeholders using a number of tools for data collection. The focus of the assessment is on primary health care services, as well as a special interest in referral and the integration of reproductive health, mental health and community health services. The intent is to utilize information collected from various stakeholders to formulate a strategy for the provision of health services through IRC Lebanon.

Major Responsibilities:

The Note taker will be engaged in training and data collection activities:

  • Attend training prior to the initiation of the FGD and key informant interviews provided by the Public Health consultant. Training will cover the objectives of the assessment, review of FGD and II guides, format of the notes, and measures and data collection procedures. Training will likely be the week of October 26, 2020.
  • Take notes during / record the FGDs and the Key informant interviews. Review the notes with the Public Health consultant and add observations. Type the notes and share with the consultant or transcribe the recorded data and compare with the notes.  
  • Data collection visits will be conducted in coordination with the consultant and the logistics and transportation will be covered by the IRC.
  • Adherence to code of conduct and research protocol at all times and report punctually to work at agreed upon times and as requested by consultant.  
  • Demonstrate commitment to the assessment and be a team player at all times.
  • Conduct self in a professional manner.
  • Demonstrate ability to properly record responses to FGDs and KIIs.  
  • Follow ethical procedures required for this study, including those for respondent privacy and data security. Capture the challenges and learning opportunities to field in the improvement of the overall assessment process.

Other responsibilities will include:

  • Ensure high quality note taking for research purposes.
  • Review and clean collected data.
  • Keep data well organized for all observation and monitoring activities.

Job Requirements:

  • Education: completed or completing a degree in a health related field.
  • Work Experience: qualitative data note taking experience is preferable.
  • SMART Phone: to record FGDs and KIIs.
  • Laptop/computer: to type the information resulting from the FGDs and KIIs.

Demonstrated Skills and Competencies:

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Experience with qualitative data collection note taking, transcription and note preferred.  
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Strong self-initiative, ability to be flexible under pressure.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a diverse team from different professional and cultural backgrounds.
  • Previous experience working with refugees, families, young children in Lebanon preferred. 

Language Skills:  Fluent in Arabic and English.

Deliverables:     - Successfully attend the training.

                             - Good quality and comprehensive typed information from data collection, including FGD, and KIIs.  

Payment will be based on deliverables (number of data collection accomplished /xx USD stipend per day (one data collection day is agreed with consultant on the number of visits). Tablets will be distributed to data collectors and are considered under the full responsibility of the data collector. In addition to that, any damage or loss of the device will result in the suspension of payment

Working Environment:  Several FGDs and KIIs per location: Akkar, Beirut, Bekaa, and Tripoli, Lebanon.
