Human Rights and Development for our Society
Formed in 2000 through individual initiatives and self financing,HANDs seeks to develop the Bekaa's human resources by setting the foundations for an interactive community and connecting diverse citizens from the remote areas of the Bekaa. Inevitably, HANDs hopes to alleviate the social and cultural burden felt by many in this underdeveloped region by offering a platform for social interaction among all its citizens. During its early years,HANDs primarily focused on providing healthy outlets for youth such as GBV with girls, PSS and summer sports activities by partnering with clubs in a variety of villages including Tamnine, Bednayel, Nabi Sheet, Riyak, Shmustar, and Baalbeck for the Lebnaes rural area and Syrian Refugees and Hosting Community among others. These programs not only offered platforms for youth to interact with one another in a productive and fun setting, but HANDs staff also worked to impart lessons of teamwork, sportsmanlike conduct, and dedication during the program as these are important skills for life off the court.
HANDs is now looking to broaden its programming and impact within the Bekaa region. HANDs fimly believes that its access to and knowledge of the region makes it keenly in tune to the needs and desires of the community.
