Human Aid and Development (HAND) is currently seeking Information technology tutors for the Business and Technology Education Council (BTEC) Higher Nationals program to offer the opportunity of a higher education and a certified diploma in Business accredited by the Quality Assurance Agency (QAA) in the UK, in our centre.

Job Summary:

Information technology tutor will be responsible for teaching and assessing learners against the learning aims and assessment criteria of the course specification. Also, He/She will be responsible for ensuring that assessment decisions are consistent across the program.

Roles And Responsibilities:

As a tutor, you will be responsible for:

  1. Preparing delivery plan for the information technology qualification curriculum.
  2. Contributing to the process of the setting of targets within the curriculum area and to work towards their achievement.
  3. Ensuring that programme specifications are read and understood by the tutor and the requirements of all units being assessed.
  4. Presenting units in a comprehensive manner using visual/audio means to facilitate learning and teaching learners the knowledge and skills required to achieve program outcomes.
  5. Maintaining accurate and up to date information concerning students and their progress.
  6. Implementing the designated curriculum completely and in due time.
  7. Observing specific practical activities which the students must complete.
  8. Creating, assigning, and grading assignments in line with objectives specified in unit description and based on specific criteria provided for each unit and grade level.
  9. Guiding and supporting learners in their assignments and reference source materials use.
  10. Agreeing an assessment and verification plan for each programme ensuring full coverage of the required units.
  11. Designing assessment activities which guide learners to produce evidence that meets the targeted learning aims and assessment criteria, using the associated assessment guidance to provide sufficient coverage of unit content.
  12. Attending and participating in all required trainings and meetings
  13. Providing summative assessment of the completed work submitted by learners, checking authenticity and sufficiency of evidence produced against the relevant learning aims, assessment criteria and unit content.
  14. Working with coordination with the program leader to make sure that assessments are planned and carried out in line with Pearson’s requirements.
  15. Demonstrating non-discriminatory working practices and encouraging this in others.
  16. Being fully aware of, and adhere to, HAND’s rules, policies, and procedures and to ensuring their implementation.

Qualifications and Skills:

  1. Minimum master’s degree or Phd in computer sciences or computer engineering.
  2. A minimum of 7 years’ experience in teaching in the related field
  3. Fluency in English is a must.
  4. Experience in using Microsoft office (word, excel, power point), e-mails, and online education platforms.
  5. Excellent presentation, written and verbal communication skills.
  6. Strong teaching and mentoring skills.
  7. A growth mindset and excellent networking abilities.
  8. Leadership skills and patience for working with learners of all age.
  9. Ability to effectively communicate with others and clearly express complex ideas.
