Project Background:

Makani is an extension project designed to provide a safe space for every child to access multiple services in one center. In collaboration with consortium lead partners, each partner is responsible for a specific sector. Anera's role focuses on integrating WaSH, Health, and Nutrition interventions within Palestinian refugee camps and gatherings in Lebanon. This intervention aims to prepare local centers to become WASH-friendly and empower community members by enhancing their knowledge and practices regarding WaSH, Health, and Nutrition topics, such as environmental hygiene, menstrual hygiene, personal hygiene, sexual and reproductive health care, and maternal, infant, and young child nutrition.

General Union of Palestinian Woman(GUPW) Background:

GUPW was established in 1965. It is a grass root democratic framework that embraces the Palestinian women all around the homeland Palestine and in Diasporas. GUPW operates in all Palestinian refugee camps and gatherings across Lebanon.  GUPW seeks to achieve equality to Palestinian women by challenging the circumstances and making fundamental shifts in all aspects of life. It deals with the different aspects of women’s lives as such as   health, education, legal literacy, income generation and rights advocacy. It views the Palestinian woman as an integral part of the nation and community, thus, gives her great care and attention and realizes its social rights as linked to the future of the society and independent state of Palestine.

GUPW aims at promoting the role of the Palestinian woman by intensifying her contribution in the progression process, elevating her learning potentials, skills and experiences in order to face the daily life Challenges. Moreover, GUPW contributes to the rise of the woman’s consciousness, discrimination in employment and child care.

GUPW community centers in Lebanon have been providing a package of healthcare, education, child protection services and support for the disabled and oppressed Children in all Palestinian Refugee camps in Lebanon.

  1. Purpose of the vacancy:

Anera is seeking a Makani-ECD focal point for a 5-month period to work on the implementation and monitoring of WaSH, Health, and Nutrition activities within the Palestinian camps: Nahr El Bared, Biddawi, Shatila, Burj El Barajneh, Ein El Helweh, El Buss, Rashidieh, Burj El Shamali, and Wavel, as well as the Palestinian gathering at Wadi El Zaineh. This position will be supervised directly by the Makani coordinator and management in addition to the Anera project team.

  1. Responsibilities of WHN focal point:
  • Attend WHN capacity building TOT training
  • Attend project meetings
  • Organize capacity-building sessions for Makani staff
  • Conduct WHN awareness sessions for community beneficiaries (adults, youth, children) at Makani Center and camp-level Makani centers,
  • Liaise, and coordinate in-kind donation distribution with the Anera team
  • Maintain close coordination with lead management
  • Collect documentation from the team and ensure adequate Means of Verification for all field activities and capacity-building activities
  • Assist in reporting ongoing results
  • Support in ensuring WHN basic minimum standards are implemented in the Makani center
  • Specific requirements:
  • Qualifications Required:
  • Preferred university degree in Public Health, Nutrition, or any related field.
  • Minimum of one year of proven working experience in social work, or a background in WaSH, Health, and Nutrition within the context of Palestinian camps or gatherings.
  • Note: Priority will be given to candidates residing in the Palestinian camp or gathering who have proven knowledge of the Palestinian context and experience in WaSH, Health, and Nutrition awareness campaigns.
