Tasks and responsibilities:

  • Support the development and the implementation of the Conflict Sensitivity Strategy of the Bekaa Water Management Project: Under the supervision of the Head of Project Zahle, ensure Conflict Sensitive Programme Management principles are incorporated in all projects activities. Develop and contribute to shaping the programme.
  • Analysis and reporting: Provide and update analysis on conflict dynamics to avoid water related conflict and build peace and develop an understanding of the local context in each delivery area. Ensure project specifics reporting such as context analysis, progress assessment and case studies.
  • External networking: Develop and maintain a network with local authorities, multilateral and NGO partners, experts and stakeholders. Conduct regular consultations with these actors.
  • Organizational and programme support: Plan and steer the work of mandated external experts and partners and ensure coordination with all engaged actors. Organize field visits, meetings, events and workshops. Ensure correct administrative and financial procedures.

Competencies and selection criteria:

  • A strong understanding of conflict sensitive programme management and conflict dynamics in Lebanon and the Bekaa.
  • The candidate is expected to have a training certificate in conflict sensitivity, and to have proven experience in implementing conflict sensitive programme management in practice (minimum 3 years).
  • Ideally, the candidate will have some experience facilitating and mediating in an applied setting.
  • The candidate should have strong analytical and writing skills, as demonstrated by a history of producing analytical reports, articles, guidance notes, and briefings.
  • The candidate should exhibit a high level of cultural sensitivity, with an ability to operate across communal divides.
