2. Background

Welthungerhilfe (WHH) is coordinating a 42 Months Programme, funded by the German Ministry for Development and Economic Cooperation (BMZ). The purpose of the Programme is to ensure that host community and the refugee community in rural areas have improved their resilience and are able to cope with the economic crisis.

Welthungerhilfe is the Lead Organization for this project being implemented with the Lebanese Organization for Studies and Training (LOST ) will take over implementation in Baalbek and Hermel. LOST looks to

  • increase income of target groups through the sale of improved varieties, higher quality and increased quantity of agricultural produce,
  • to develop competitive value chains and more profitable ones through improving the capacity of actors and
  • increase collaboration through improved linkages, and to enhance social cohesion and psychological well-being in the target communities.


Established in 1998, the Lebanese Organization for Studies and Training (LOST) focuses on developing communities of the Republic of Lebanon socially, politically, and economically via versatile programs that build and enhance communal capacity, educate, and train youth and women on matters of civic and intellectual nature, and engage them in civic affairs. The ultimate objective is creating a democratic and peaceful society where rule of law, justice, liberty, and economic wellbeing are customary.

For this project funded by the BMZ, and in partnership with WHH, LOST is tasked with extensive coaching to farmers, youth, MSMEs, farmers’ groups.

In order to make sure that coaching support for all the above mentioned targets respect the minimum requirements, WHH is seeking for “Business  consultant/s and experts to train LOST’s business coaches”.



WHH is seeking to contract a local consultant to conduct a TOT for LOST staff on coaching skills for farmers and MSMEs. This will capacitate them to undertake coaching support under its project in Baalbeck-Hermel.



A consultant is required to provide support to the business and agriculture coaches at the level of developing a curriculum, planning, and putting appropriate strategies in all the topics to help farmers and MSMEs on their businesses.

The consultant is expected to cover the following topics:

  • Explain what coaching is and isn’t
  • Describe several coaching models
  • Create a coaching plan
  • Conduct a workshop about the following topics:
  1. Inclusive leadership  
  2. Effective communication
  3. Psychological safety and trust  
  4. Emotional intelligence 
  5. Active listening 
  6. Ability to give (and receive) feedback  
  7. Empathy  
  8. Goal-oriented 
  9. A growth mindset  and creative thinking


5. Deliverables

The expected outcomes from the consultant/s are to prepare the business coaches to be ready to conduct training on the above-mentioned topics for farmers and workers in the agricultural sectors and to review and develop:

    • Coaching plan template
    • Training material about all the topics mentioned above
    • Certificate for the coaches who attend the training


6. Qualifications:

    • Master’s degree in business development or any related field
    • At least 10 years of experience in providing business consultancy field, coaching.
    • Knowledge of diverse business areas such as training, marketing, E-commerce, and finance
    • Experience in fairtrade and exporting
    • Experience in designing and implementing marketing strategies
    • Experience in value chain development and a good understanding of agricultural value chain
    • Proven command of coaching skills
    • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills
    • Fluency in Arabic, with excellent written and oral communication skills
    • Good in English


7. Timeframe

  • 4 days (1 day for preparation and 3 days of trainings)
  • Preferably to be done in 2 weeks


8. Location

The training will takeplace at LOST premise in Ballaback -Hermel


9. Selection and follow up

The selection of the coach will be done jontly by WHH implementation Expert and LOST Project Manager.

WHH implementation Expert or WHH Project Assistant will attend the training and monitor it.
