Project Officer

Under the overall supervision of the project manager, the project officer will support the implementation of CELIM’s interventions in the DOT-Olive project in the area of Hasbaya, Nabatiye.

 The project officer will accomplish below responsibilities and tasks:

· Supervise the implementation of DOT-Olive project in Hasbaya area, in close coordination with the project manager, with the Project Italian and local partners: ISF, Oikos, Chico Mendes, El Khalil Foundation and LARI, and with the local Authorities in Hasbaya area: Union of Municipalities, Hasbaya Municipality;

· Ensure a proper local coordination with technical staff of the Directorate of the Ministry of Agriculture, and other relevant authorities, across the three components of the project;

· Provide technical inputs and outputs of the mentioned project and submit regular progress reports to the project manager;

· Liaise and coordinate with all stakeholders related to the project activities;

· Integrate gender concerns in all relevant project activities;

· Closely liaise with the project manager in documenting evidence-based impact of CELIM’s interventions in the project;

· Ensure preparation of all documentary permissions associated with implementation of the project (Travel Authorizations, Security Clearances, etc) on time;

· Liaise and coordinate with CELIM staff in Beirut and Hasbaya for all administrative, logistic, monitoring and any other kind of activity required by the Project and by other CELIM activity

· Actively collaborate in identifying new possible activities and preparing proposals for new Projects in Lebanon

· Perform any other duties requested.

Academic Qualifications:

University degree in Agriculture Sciences or related field of study preferred; degrees in Development studies and related fields will be positively considered.

Technical Competencies and Experience Requirements:

· At least 5 years of experience in agriculture production, natural resource management, rural development, agricultural value chain support and promotion, Food and Nutrition Security interventions and related areas

· Working experience with NGOs and Civil Society Organizations

· Demonstrated understanding of rural development and SME growth in emerging economies.

· A positive attitude and willingness to adaptively manage projects and partners in complex environments.

· Fluency in English required

· Familiarity with the intervention area

Previous experience working in similar environments preferred
