CARE International in Lebanon (CIL) is implementing a regional response to the triple crisis and Beirut emergency to meet the immediate and most urgent needs of the women, men, boys and girls. CIL is supporting local communities with their longer-term needs and basic rights through WASH, Shelter, basic assistance, protection, and longer-term economic development solutions and activities in collaboration with local partner organizations in the North, South, Beirut, and Mount Lebanon Governorates.
Objectives
The Market Research service provider will carry out a market assessment targeting the North governorate of Lebanon on 5 pre-identified sectors (textile and handicrafts, manufacturing, tourism and hospitality, agro-food sector and construction, in addition to any relevant sector specified at a later stage) targeting especially Micro and small enterprises in order to better inform entrepreneurs about structural challenges and market opportunities of the local, national and regional market opportunities.
The study will survey a large range of market actors at local and national levels, including public and private actors: business owners, municipalities, chamber of commerce and industry, ministry of economy, relevant civil society organizations. It will also include the analysis of relevant legal frameworks, available secondary data and local and national related strategies and plans. The successful market research service provider will be able to follow the below market assessment outline: 1. Provide an in-depth understanding of the various political, economic, social, legal, and health forces affecting and governing the MSMEs within the selected sectors and subsectors. 2. Analyze the main opportunities and challenges facing the MSMEs and identify ways to mitigate the challenges and benefit from the opportunities in the corresponding sectors and subsectors through the provision of a business support plan based on the various enterprise profiles. 3. Analyze the potential for development of the MSMEs targeted and analyze their potential challenges and needs, in addition to their capacity to create new job opportunities and contribute to local economic growth. 4. Findings and recommendations presented are also intended to inform a wider audience interested in current challenges and opportunities to support Lebanon’s domestic private sector.

Consultant Profile
Education: BS or MS in Business, Marketing, Statistics, or any related field
Experience: minimum of 5 years
Proven Market Research Analysis experience
Adequate knowledge of data collection methods (polls, focus groups, surveys etc.)
Understanding of the Lebanese north markets’ trends and needs.
