About the program: “The Generation of Innovation Leaders/GIL” is a program by UNICEF designed to address the high unemployment rates among youth in Lebanon & their lack of access to the knowledge economy. UNICEF is implementing this project in partnership with Berytech.

About Berytech: A leading organization in the Entrepreneurial Ecosystem in Lebanon, that aims to provide a conducive environment for the creation and development of startups, through incubation, business support, counseling, funding, networking, and company hosting, hence taking part in the economic revival of the country, participating in wealth and job creation, and retaining graduates and high-level skills in Lebanon.  Under the GIL project, Berytech aims to Increase access of Lebanese and non-Lebanese youth (17-25 years) to technical and vocational training and innovative skills-building programs for improved professional readiness and employability.

About GIL Innovation Labs: UNICEF Innovation Lab Network Programme (GIL – Generation of Innovation Leaders) is a network of 13 innovation labs all over Lebanon that aims at the provision of two sets of skills: Design Thinking and Business Development Skills (Social Entrepreneurship) and Digital Skills training tailored for youth in Lebanon. Engaging young people in their communities is a priority for UNICEF to address social cohesion challenges among different communities, and to support and empower youth to engage in healthy lifestyles and become more civically engaged. Since 2017, UNICEF has reached over 50,000 adolescents and youth with integrated and structured life skills, sports for development, and positive leadership programs.

Scope of work

 

The Design Intern will support the Generation of Innovation Leaders (GIL) Program by creating visually compelling and engaging content for the website and social media platforms. Responsibilities include meticulous photo editing for polished product images and crafting visually appealing graphics for the website that align with GIL brand. The intern will collaborate closely with the content creation team.

Responsibilities

 

  • Photo Editing:
    • Enhance and edit product images for a polished and professional appearance.
    • Ensure consistency in image quality and style across all product listings.
  • Visual Design:
    • Create visually appealing graphics and visuals for the e-commerce platform.
    • Develop a cohesive visual identity that aligns with the GIL Program's branding.
  • Collaboration with Content Team:
    • Work closely with the content creation team to integrate edited photos seamlessly into social media posts and other marketing materials.
    • Provide creative input to enhance the overall aesthetic of the marketplace.
  • Adherence to Brand Guidelines:
    • Ensure that all visuals align with the established brand guidelines and maintain a consistent look and feel.
  • Timely Delivery:
    • Meet deadlines for photo editing and visual design tasks to ensure a smooth and timely update of the e-commerce platform.
Requirements

 

  • Educational Background:
    • Pursuing or completed a degree in Graphic Design, Visual Arts, Photography, or a related field.
  • Skills:
    • Proficient in photo editing software (e.g., Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom).
    • Strong visual design skills with an eye for detail and aesthetics.
  • Creativity:
    • Ability to think creatively and bring fresh ideas to visual content creation.
    • Experience in developing visually appealing graphics for digital platforms.
  • Tech-Savvy:
    • Familiarity with design tools and software relevant to the role.
    • Basic knowledge of e-commerce platforms is a plus.
  • Communication and Collaboration:
    • Effective communication skills for collaboration with the content creation and website management teams.
    • Openness to feedback and willingness to iterate on designs as needed.
  • Time Management:
    • Ability to manage time effectively to meet deadlines within a part-time schedule.
