Main Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Inclusive Education environment:
- Identify the most effective teaching approaches for children with disabilities and ensure their adoption by NFE teachers
- Monitor teaching and learning activities ensuring that the needs of children with disabilities and/or special educational needs are met.
- Monitor the progress of the children with disabilities and/or special educational needs and discuss support needed with educators and caregivers;
- Collect data and maintain records of children’s progress and development.
- Liaise with AVSI CP Officers for identification of children in need and for their referral
- Training and Capacity Building:
- Support NFE teachers in planning differentiated instruction that caters for children’s individual needs and support finding solution to remove barriers related to teaching methods
- Train and coach AVSI Education staff and NFE teachers on disability inclusion practices.
- Provide coaching and support to the Education staff during the implementation of parental engagement awareness sessions for caregivers of children with disabilities
- Support the outreach team in the review of the developed materials and E-flyers aiming to have inclusive key messages
- Knowledge management, communication and reporting:
- Submit internal and external quantitative and qualitative reports on children with disabilities
- Contribute to narrative reports for donors describing Inclusion activities
- Support in writing success stories and developing communication materials related to children with disabilities
- Report on project indicators concerning inclusion of children with special needs programs activities in collaboration with the MEAL department,
4. Specialized services for children with disabilities:
- Support the mapping of Specialized Services per Governorate identifying and visiting potential centers or CBOs
- Identify the specialized services needed for each child with disabilities
- Prepare the relevant ToRs and conduct interviews for the selection of Therapists providing specialized services
- Prepare the budget forecast of the specialized services needed for each child with disabilities
- Supervise the technical aspects of the specialized services provided
- Communicate with caregivers about therapies and progress
- Report to MEAL department the monthly number of specialized services sessions provided per child, governorate and type of disabilities
- Coordination and representation:
- Liaise with public schools to ensure continuity of support and learning to the reffered children with disabilities
- Participate in Education Department meetings
- Represent AVSI in Inclusion related meetings with donors and/or at the national level
