About the role

We're on the lookout for a Finance Officer to join our team and contribute to the smooth financial operations of ARK projects. The role involves a variety of tasks, from checking and verifying invoices to budget management and maintaining accurate accounting records. You’ll put your project management, bookkeeping and data entry to use in an international organisation making a difference. You'll be detail-oriented, can work independently and under pressure, and an effective communicator and team player. If you have a knack for handling financial responsibilities and are comfortable with various computer applications, especially MS Word, Excel, and Outlook, we'd love to hear from you.

What you’ll be doing 

Check and verify source documents such as invoices, receipts in line with approval mechanisms and financial procedures.  

Accurately record financial transactions to the accounting software.  

Monitor budget expenditures and utilise the budget vs actual mechanism to ensure alignment. Organise and contribute to weekly budget meetings, maintaining an organised project folder. 

Ensure all entries into the accounting system are accurate and documented correctly.  

Oversee the accuracy and compliance of employee information with administrative and legal standards. 

Organise and maintain accurate financial records.  

Track and maintain inventory records.  

Provide training and induction sessions for new finance team members, as well as wider ARK staff. 

Follow up on pending accounting and finance matters, including accruals, prepayments, deposits, insurances, and depreciations. 

Perform reconciliations for accounts and vendors, covering third-party, bank, and cash records.

 

Requirements

International project management experience, with the ability to independently manage responsibilities when faced with tight deadlines

IT literate and comfortable using Microsoft Applications such as Word, Excel and Outlook

Demonstrated proficiency in budget management, bookkeeping and data entry

A keen eye for detail, consistently demonstrating a commitment to accuracy and precision in all tasks

Fluency in French and an intermediate level of English language proficiency
