Background of the Organization
ALEF – act for human rights is a Lebanese non-profit, non-partisan human rights watchdog organization that works on documenting human rights violation and promoting inclusive values in Lebanon. ALEF seeks to strengthen the respect and fulfillment of human rights as a cornerstone of social, economic, and political development. By embracing a comprehensive approach to human right monitoring, protection, and education, ALEF aims to complement and gear all efforts towards the achievement of an influential human rights constituency, and the realization of a durable peace.

Scope of Work
The consultant will be responsible for the following:
✓Provide an overview of the current theories and debate surrounding LGBTQIA+ rights and the standpoints of human rights groups across the political spectrum.
✓Analyse international human rights standards and agreements relevant to LGBTQIA+ rights, to ensure that ALEF's approach aligns with global norms.
✓Engage with a wide range of stakeholders, including LGBTQIA+ organizations, civil society, government officials, religious leaders, and community members, to gather diverse perspectives and opinions.
✓Based on the findings from the assessment and stakeholder consultations, develop a comprehensive balanced rights-based approach that:

 

     • Acknowledges and respects diverse viewpoints on LGBTQIA+ rights, except those promoting homophobia and discrimination.

     •Promotes inclusivity and equality..
     •Provide clear policy recommendations and practical steps that ALEF can take to implement the balanced rights-based approach in its              programs and advocacy work.
