YBLN Teacher
Al Midan NGO is seeking to recruit a “YBLN Teacher” for Makani Project in the North.
The Teacher/Facilitator in a non-formal education setting may support in additional tasks and carry other responsibilities which are not mentioned, depending on the needs of the Makani project.
To address the growing needs of children and youth in Lebanon, AL Midan is implementing the Makani project, utilizing a Multi-Service Community Centre (MSCC) approach across 3 community centers in the North (T5 area). This initiative aims to provide a comprehensive package of integrated services targeting marginalized and vulnerable children and youth aged 0-18 years, as well as their caregivers. The MSCCs serve as safe spaces offering a variety of programs, including education, child protection, early childhood development (ECD), life skills, and youth engagement support, all through a community-based approach. The goal is to reach both Syrian and Lebanese vulnerable children in host communities, as well as collective and informal settlements.
Al Midan NGO has a zero tolerance to Sexual Exploitation and Abuse of beneficiaries. Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA) is everyone’s responsibility and all staff are required to adhere to the Code of Conduct, that enshrines principles of PSEA, always (both during work hours and outside work hours). Familiarization with, and adherence to, the Code of Conduct is an essential requirement of all staff, in addition to related mandatory training. All staff must ensure that they understand and act in accordance with this clause.

Major Responsibilities:
- Adhere to and act in accordance with Al Midan NGO Policies and Procedures.
- Adherence to the child protection policy, code of conduct, and all policies related to respecting children's rights, and signing them.
- Ensuring the protection and safety of children.
- Working within a team and acting professionally and ethically towards all concerned parties.
- Using feedback provided by the supervisor to improve the work.
- Using and following the program provided by Al Midan.
- Targeting the agreed number of children and caregivers.
- Preparing the activities agreed upon, according to the schedule set by Al Midan.
- Preparing the initial and final assessments for each child during each cycle.
- Planning and following a daily schedule of activities.
- Organizing and preparing the space, equipment, and materials before activities.
- Helping children express themselves using principles of child participation.
- Assisting children in developing mental, physical, and developmental skills.
- Using a variety of educational methods including design, monitoring, accountability, explanation, and support.
- Personalizing the curriculum by observing and expanding play activities that take individual differences into account.
- Setting realistic behavioral expectations through positive reinforcement, language, and guidelines.
- Recording daily attendance as well as helping in the preparation of weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports to monitor the effectiveness of activities and identify areas for improvement.
- Reporting any cases of neglect or individual abuse to the direct manager.
- Assisting in developing positive relationships with children's families and community members.
- Assisting in communicating monthly and quarterly plans to the area coordinator.
- Participating in a weekly staff meeting.
Professional Standards:
All Al Midan staff are required to adhere to the Al Midan policies and practices with respect to child protection minimum standards, code of conduct, health and safety, equal opportunities and other relevant policies and procedures.
Job Requirements:
- Educational background from a university or technical school (LT) in majors relevant to the subjects they are teaching or kindergarten (with exceptional approvals for experienced teachers from the Ministry of Education and Higher Education).
- Demonstrates familiarity with child development specificities, needs and different material that fulfill these needs.
- Establish and maintain effective, working relationships with children, parents, staff, and education specialist.
- Should be physically and intellectually qualified to follow up on children’s affairs.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Experience in working in group.
- Fluent in spoken and written French, English and Arabic.
