Al Midan NGO in partnership with the Local Development Program for Urban Areas in North Lebanon (UDP-NL) has implemented a successful project called Sport Builds Generations in 2020-2022, that capacitated coaches to deliver trainings that taught social-emotional skills through football trainings, events, and tournaments. Therefore, the aim of this current project: "Activation of Public Spaces and Strengthening of Organizations that Manage Them'' is to help bring several public sites in north Lebanon, that were and are still being rehabilitated and constructed by GIZ under the UDP-NL programme to life through a comprehensive and multidisciplinary approach with a focus on sustainability.

We aim to work closely with several organizations to develop and strengthen their capacities, which will include technical workshops (organizational management: Planning, communication, time management, data management, staffing and delegating responsibilities, volunteers’ management, setting organizational processes, facility management, etc) as well as close mentorship. The decision on the customization of the training material will be based on an assessment developed by the trainer and Al midan team that assess the participating organizations capacities.

This position is for the Organizational Management component. The work will cover different organizations which are:

  • One community center in Chekka
  • One community center in Zgharta
  • One community-based organization (CBO) in Nahr El Joz-Mejdel
  • One sports club in the Al Manqoubeen area
  • The municipality of Tripoli unit handling 6 renovated public spaces in Tripoli

Job Description for the Organizational Management trainer

The organizational management trainer is needed for a total of up to 60 consultancy working days distributed over the duration of 6 months. This duration is distributed as follows:

Provide training for several organizations on organizational management, the training will include 2 major phases.

The first phase will consist of at least 2 full days of training sessions or an equivalent of several half-day training (depending on the expert and availability of the participants). In this phase, the training includes all the participants from the different organizations in addition to the interested youth leadership participants. In this category, the trainer will be introducing the concept of organizational management and give all the necessary information related to this topic.

The second phase will consist of weekly follow-up sessions or workshops where the trainer with the help, if needed, of the Al Midan team, specifically the financial officer, admin assistant, and operational officer will use the information given in the first phase and apply it in real life. It is worth mentioning that the follow-up sessions will be available in both in-person and online sessions.

In this phase, the trainer will be working separately with each organization. At least 10 follow-up training sessions will be included to create an organizational management approach for these organizations.

Responsibilities/Duties

  • Identify the training needs of the participants and organizations through cooperation with Al Midan staff and individual meetings with participants and organizations.
  • Create in coordination with the Al Midan team an assessment form to see the gaps for the targeted organizations so it would be the basis for the training.
  • Prepare material and workshop structure with close coordination with Al Midan through an interactive and hands-on approach method.
  • Coordinate with Al Midan staff on materials and goods needed to implement the workshop.
  • Implement a 2-day workshop on the topic of organizational management.
  • Identifying key gaps of organizational management that the organizations should work/focus on.
  • Create new strategies, policies, and schedules that are appropriate for each public space.
  • Make an inventory management process that will help in the data collecting and monitoring for each public space.
  • Improve the reporting and archival capabilities of each team working in the public space.
  • Advising of suitable organizational software that might be provided to the centers.
  • Create an easy and practical registration process for participants to access the public spaces.
  • Set up a weekly schedule with all participants to have individual follow-up sessions (in person and/or online) to mentor and support them.
  • Regular meetings with Al Midan to update them on the progress and ensure the activities are falling in line with the project goals and timelines.
  • Write a training completion report detailing the training conducted, including the outputs of the training and an evaluation of the knowledge acquired by participants.

 Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in business administration or related field.
  • 2 years or more relevant experience in delivering workshops and mentoring on the topic of organizational management.
  • Extensive knowledge of instructional design theory and learning principles.
  • Familiarity with traditional and modern training methods, tools, and techniques.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and database software.
  • Demonstrated analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills, with a results orientation.
  • Impressive communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to implement the training in the Arabic language
  • Ability to present complex information to a variety of audiences.
