ACTED works closely with local authorities and civil society stakeholders at the com­munity level to implement priori­ty humanitarian interventions such as emergency multi-purpose cash assis­tance, WASH projects (including disease monitoring and infrastructural and be­havioral response), and Shelter interven­tions incorporating multiple modalities. ACTED is also implementing long-term development projects to rehabilitate infrastructure, improv­e agricultural production, increase livelihood opportunities and support state and non-state ac­tors to improve service deliv­ery and social stability through col­lective development planning.

ACTED responds to emergency and develop­ment needs through a community driven approach which focuses on engagement and capacity building of local civil soci­ety and local authorities, with the aim of promoting accountable governance and civic engagement. Moreover, ACTED in Lebanon seeks to support private sector actors to become the key driv­ers in Lebanon’s economic development with the goal of raising the living standards of Lebanese and refugee households, and improving the coping capacity of local communities.

2. PROJECT BACKGROUND

ACTED is implementing a project, funded by the Agence Française de Développement (AFD) and EU Madad, in the North, Beirut, Mount Lebanon and the South designed to strengthen local institutions’ and civil society organizations’ ability to provide effective basic health and psycho-social services to marginalized and vulnerable populations in communities most affected by the Syrian crisis. Ten Social Development Centers and Civil Society Organizations are currently undergoing administrative, managerial and technical trainings. Part of these trainings are designed to support the SDCs and CSOs to manage their institutions strategically by planning, implementing, and controlling organizational directions and strategies to address the evolving challenges and opportunities more proactively for organizational growth and for better service delivery; mobilize effectively people and resources to plan and implement their services and programs; design effective systems, processes and methods for managing resources, services, and programs for improving organizational performance; ensure competent and committed workforce for enhanced human resource performance in the organization. In parallel, the social workers and frontliners of these organizations are receiving a training on basic competencies for mental health and psychosocial support with a focus on the identification, assessment and referral of five severe mental health conditions (Depression, Self-Harm/Suicide, Psychosis, Developmental Disorders and Alcohol and Substance Use Disorders) and self-care.

To this effect, ACTED is seeking a graphic designer to design two manuals, in two versions (Arabic and English), developed by the National Mental Health Programme (NMHP) of the Ministry of Public Health on basic competencies for mental health and psychosocial support and on mental health psycho-social support. Each manual contains around 50 pages.

OBJECTIVE & EXPECTED DELIVERABLES

The selected graphic designer will have to:

  • Develop a design template for two manuals in two languages (English and Arabic).
  • Coordinate with both the ACTED project team and the National Mental Health Programme to determine the design requirements and integrate their comments in the successive drafts.
  • Develop a short animated presentation to promote each manual on social media with the support of ACTED and the NMHP.

 

4. REQUIRED EXPERTISE

The consultant(s) or consulting firm is expected to have the following skills:

 

- 3+ years of experience of strong practical background in graphic design and graphic design software;

-Excellent skills in Adobe In Design, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, and other graphic design software. Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects is a Plus;

- Creativity and innovation

-Time management and organizational skills

-Proven experience of graphic production from start to published/printed product with knowledge of printing  processes and color management;

-Good understanding of new and evolving technologies and digital platforms;

-Fluency in English and Arabic;

-Excellent written and oral communications skills;

- Proven ability to deliver under tight deadlines;

-Good social networking skills.

6. SELECTION PROCESS

The shortlisted candidates will be invited for an interview either remotely or at ACTED office in Beirut and will be requested to submit a quotation. The final selection will be based on the demonstrated skills evaluated from the interview, CV, and portfolio (60%) and the submitted cost of the consultancy (40%).
