In addition to other interventions in the area, AND is currently working on child protection, especially in the most deprived areas of Akkar, by providing education support, extra-curricular activities, and psychosocial interventions.
Areas of Responsibility:
General objective of the job
Teachers lead classrooms to guide their students and help them understand academic information. They prepare curriculum, create worksheets, give lectures and guide students through interactive lessons, using different teaching styles to reinforce essential information. Teachers supervise the class throughout lessons and use techniques to correct unfocused behaviour without distracting other students. They build trust with students as a way to manage their behaviour and encourage engaged participation in the coursework.
Job Responsibility:
The teacher will:
- Develop lessons plans in line with the BLN basic/youth curriculum approved by MEHE, achievements and the abilities of individual students.
- Organize and deliver classroom lessons to students.
- Evaluate a students' class work and assignments.
- Maintain classroom organization and discipline.
- Prepare classroom and coursework materials, homework assignments, and handouts
- Record and maintain accurate student attendance records.
- Participate in ongoing training sessions.
- Work with program coordinators to ensure initiatives are being met.
- Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities.
- Perform any other related tasks.
- Create a vibrant and positive teaching atmosphere.
- Provide the students with a safe space to express their thoughts and feelings.
- Refer alarming cases that might involve child abuse or psychological distress.
- Support with AND’s activities when needed;
Personal Competencies:
- Spoken and written fluency in Arabic and/or other languages as required.
- Good writing skills.
- Capacity to work in team and flexibility to take on new tasks.
- Strong oral and written communications skills.
- Able to establish and maintain effective working relations with people of different cultural backgrounds.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to-detail.
Position Requirements and Qualifications:
- Any related university degree.
- Experience working with refugees and other vulnerable groups is a plus.
Reporting
The Teachers shall report to the Education Officer.
