Description: 

 The Psychosocial Support (PSS) Officer will be responsible for implementing community-led psychosocial support activities with the children and adults in Nabatiyeh governorate.

 Responsibilities and Essential Functions

  1. Provide direct emotional and psychological support to individuals, groups, or communities affected by trauma, stress, crises, displacement or other mental health challenges.
  2. Conduct assessments to determine the psychosocial needs of vulnerable beneficiaries
  3. Develop tailored protection session plans and conduct psychosocial and awareness activities at the community level.
  4. Prepare the needed materials appropriate for the PSS sessions.
  5. Identify protection concerns and provide psychological support to cases of concern.
  6. Make necessary and timely referrals when needed, respecting confidentiality and the beneficiary’s rights.
  7. Conduct discussion groups, focus groups at the community level.
  8. Hold regular meetings with the supervisor to provide updates on the PSS activities, challenges and recommendations.
  9. Assist in organizing protection events for the beneficiaries.
  10. Maintain proper documentation and perform necessary data entry related to the PSS activities
  11. Build the capacity of the field staff on psychological issues, when necessary.
  12. Establish strong links and relationships with program stakeholders internally and externally including partner NGOs, beneficiaries, municipalities, local NGOs, and donors.
  13. Attend and participate in IOCC meetings as well as all protection Working Group coordination meetings and other working group meetings as needed or requested.
  14. Submit reports as needed, and follow up on the monitoring and evaluation activities to ensure timely internal and external reporting
  15. Report back to the supervisor on a regular basis.
  16. Perform other duties as required or assigned

Qualifications

  1. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA): 
  1. Good organizational skills.
  2. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  3. Self-motivated and initiative taker. 
  4. Good report writing skills.
  5. Ability to communicate with vulnerable populations.
  6. Advanced knowledge in psychosocial / psychological interventions (Child protection, Sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV), art therapy etc...)
  7. Dynamic personality.
  8. Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  9. Fluency in written and spoken Arabic and English.

    Experience:  

  10. 2-3 years of work experience in providing mental health and or psychosocial support services.
  11. Previous experience in NGO and humanitarian field is an advantage.
  12. Previous experience in working with children and vulnerable populations is an advantage.

    Working Conditions

Stationed in the field, in the project targeted areas, with frequent visits to IOCC office
