LOST is seeking a knowledgeable and innovative Agricultural Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing agricultural systems and processes that enhance crop production, improve efficiency, and promote sustainable farming practices. This role requires strong technical expertise, problem-solving abilities, and a passion for advancing agricultural science.

Key Responsibilities:

System Design and Development:
Design and develop efficient agricultural systems, including irrigation, drainage, crop management, and soil conservation. Implement engineering solutions that optimize resource use and improve crop yields.

Research and Innovation:
Conduct research to identify new technologies, practices, and methodologies that can be applied to improve agricultural production. Stay informed about the latest developments in agricultural engineering and integrate them into projects.

Project Management:
Plan, coordinate, and manage agricultural projects from conception to completion. Ensure that projects are completed on time, within budget, and meet the desired objectives.

Soil and Water Management:
Analyze soil and water conditions to develop and implement strategies for soil conservation, water use efficiency, and sustainable land management. Provide recommendations for soil improvement and erosion control.

Sustainable Agriculture Practices:
Promote and implement sustainable farming practices that minimize environmental impact and enhance the long-term viability of agricultural operations. Advocate for the use of renewable resources and energy-efficient technologies.

Technical Support:
Provide technical support and guidance to farmers, agricultural workers, and other stakeholders. Assist in the troubleshooting of agricultural systems and equipment.

Field Inspections and Evaluations:
Conduct field inspections to assess the performance of agricultural systems, monitor crop growth, and identify areas for improvement. Make recommendations based on findings to optimize production.

Compliance and Safety:
Ensure that all agricultural activities comply with relevant environmental regulations, safety standards, and best practices. Implement safety protocols to protect workers and the environment.

Data Collection and Reporting:
Collect, analyze, and report on agricultural data, including crop performance, resource use, and system efficiency. Prepare detailed reports for management and stakeholders.

Training and Education:
Provide training to farmers and agricultural staff on best practices, new technologies, and system maintenance. Conduct workshops and seminars to disseminate knowledge and skills.

Educational Requirements:

A Bachelor’s Degree in Agricultural Engineering, Agronomy, or a related field.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in agricultural engineering or a related role.
  • Strong technical knowledge of agricultural systems, equipment, and technologies.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage projects and work effectively in a team environment.
  • Proficiency in using agricultural software and tools for design and analysis.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with precision agriculture technologies and practices.
  • Knowledge of sustainable and organic farming methods.
  • Proficiency in multiple languages, especially English and Arabic.

Work Environment:

  • This role may involve working in various environments, including farms, research facilities, and offices. Fieldwork may require exposure to outdoor conditions and physical activity.
  • Flexibility in working hours may be needed to accommodate project timelines and fieldwork requirements.
